Clean exercise mats and tools after use
During exercise, sweat and dust can stick to devices such as yoga mats, handheld weights, or exercise bikes. If not cleaned regularly, this can become a favorable environment for bacteria to grow.
For yoga mats, experts recommend cleaning at least once a week if used regularly. Users can make their own water cleaning solution, a small amount of white vinegar and a few drops of tea tree essential oil to disinfect and deodorize.
Hand weights, detachable weights or grips should be wiped clean after each workout with a disinfectant towel or a soft towel soaked in water mixed with a small amount of dish soap. Regular cleaning helps remove sweat, oil on the skin and limit bacteria buildup.
Don't skip workout clothes and accessories
Sportswear should be washed after each use to remove sweat and bacteria. Experts recommend limiting the use of fabric softener as it can retain the odor in the fabric fibers. Instead, a small amount of baking soda can be added to the washing process to help deodorize.
For boxing gloves, it is necessary to dry the inside and outside after practice to reduce moisture buildup. You can place a dehumidifying bag or specialized deodorants inside the glove overnight to limit unpleasant odors.
Running shoes also need to be cleaned periodically with a soft brush and warm soapy water to remove dirt. Experts note that shoes should not be soaked in water or dried at high temperatures because they can damage the material and make the shoes lose shape.
Cleaning the training area
In addition to equipment, floors and training areas also need to be cleaned regularly. For hard floors, you should wipe with appropriate cleaning solutions to remove bacteria. If exercising on carpets, vacuum at least twice a week to reduce dirt, hair and allergens.
Maintaining hygiene habits after each workout not only helps the device last longer but also creates a clean and safe workout environment for the whole family.
