Sharing with MC Dinh Toan and advisor Nguyen Phi Hung, Mr. Kim Long said that he and his wife, Ms. Nhu Y, first met when Nhu Y was Mr. Long's homeroom teacher in 11th grade (he is 8 years younger than his wife).
At that time, the two were just a pure teacher-student relationship, with no feelings for each other. Ms. Y shared that after Mr. Long entered 12th grade, she stopped teaching and started doing other work at the company.
Then, thanks to a friend working in the same company, the two had the chance to reconnect through social networks and gradually became friends.
By Christmas 2013, Long officially proposed and the two began a relationship.
Although they loved each other, the two faced a lot of pressure and opposition from society. Kim Long initially only told his family that he was dating an older girl. Only when he felt the relationship was "ripe" did he reveal to his parents that the other person was his old teacher. Fortunately, his parents both accepted and supported their son's love.
Unlike Kim Long, Nhu Y’s family did not agree when they learned that their daughter loved a younger man, who was also a former student. However, since she was young, Nhu Y had “done what she wanted”, and gradually her parents realized that they could no longer stop their daughter.
One of the couple’s biggest challenges is facing prejudice from outsiders. The love story between a teacher and a student is always a sensitive topic, easily judged by others.
Ms. Nhu Y said that negative comments on social networks once hurt her and made her cry a lot.
In the face of difficulties, Mr. Long was the one who helped Ms. Nhu Y to be more steadfast in the face of public opinion. He advised his wife not to pay attention to the gossip of people around her.
Ms. Nhu Y said that the best way to prove it is to live happily every day. After about a year and a half of dating, Mr. Long and Ms. Nhu Y decided to get married in 2015.
Since then, their life has been filled with happiness. The couple now has a cozy family with an 8-year-old daughter.
Ms. Nhu Y shared that Mr. Long is always the one who pampers and gives in to his wife. Ms. Y admits that she gets angry easily but also calms down easily. She said that the father and son often take that as her weakness: "My husband and daughter just tease me until they're satisfied and then apologize." As long as her daughter kisses her mother, Ms. Y immediately softens her heart.
Mr. Long shared that he always loves his wife's simplicity, who doesn't care too much about her appearance, but only spends time taking care of her family.
Ms. Nhu Y said she was very lucky to marry Mr. Long. He has grown up and become a reliable support, making her more certain that her decision was the right one.
Although his wife's family was initially hesitant, over time, everyone gradually understood and loved Long. Ms. Nhu Y confided that since having children, she understood her parents' hearts even more, and was very happy that her parents now considered Long as a son in the family.
Mr. Kim Long shared that he wanted his wife to spend more time on herself instead of just taking care of her husband and children. When asked what she wanted for the future, Ms. Nhu Y said she felt very lucky and happy.
