Parents are worried and anxious when their children know the exam scores
On the morning of July 1st, the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) announced the exam scores of more than 1.2 million candidates, along with the results of the 2026 high school graduation exam score analysis. Immediately after knowing the results, many parents fell into a state of nervousness, anxiety, and even impatience when looking at their children's results.
In Hanoi, Ms. Nguyen Thi Linh (Giang Vo ward) said that at the time she knew her child's exam scores, she was both happy and worried, and her psychology was quite heavy.
“I just checked the score for rapid heartbeat. My child reached a temporarily stable level but still not as expected initially. I don't dare to say harsh words because I'm afraid my child will be sad, but in my heart there are still many thoughts,” Ms. Linh shared.
Similarly, Mr. Nguyen Hoang Anh (Lang Son) said that his family had prepared psychologically in advance, but when they knew the results, their emotions were still quite surprised.
When I knew the score, I was also a little disappointed because it was slightly lower than expected. However, I still encouraged my child that this is just a stepping stone in his learning journey, the important thing is to maintain the spirit to choose the next direction," said Mr. Hoang Anh.
Parents need to accompany their children properly.
According to psychologist Mai Viet Duc - Nhan Hoa Viet Counseling and Psychological Therapy Center, the time of knowing exam scores is a very sensitive emotional period for students, and parents' reactions can strongly affect their children's psychology.
The first reaction of parents can shape how children perceive their own results. If parents show disappointment, blame or compare with others, children easily think they are not good enough. This is an important boundary between evaluating results and denying self-worth," psychologist Mai Viet Duc said.
According to experts, the most important thing at this time is emotional companionship, encouragement and being by your child's side instead of focusing on scores.
Parents should accept their children's emotions before making comments. A word of encouragement and care will help children stabilize their psychology, reduce pressure and be calmer to make appropriate choices for upcoming plans," expert Mai Viet Duc shared.
Psychologists also emphasize that exam scores only reflect the results of one exam, not reflecting the entire ability or development potential of children. It is the parent's reaction after the results that is the long-term factor affecting children's confidence, recovery ability and mental health in the following stages.
