Similar to studies and studies in many countries around the world, the life expectancy of men is often lower than that of women.
In Vietnam, in the period of 2019-2024, the life expectancy of men will increase by 1.3 years, while for women it will only increase by 1 year.
In addition, statistics show that people living in urban areas have a longer life expectancy than people living in rural areas. Urban men have an average life expectancy of 74.3 years, 2.4 years older than rural men of 71.9 years.
Based on the survey results, the average life expectancy of Central Highlands men, including the 5 provinces of Dak Lak, Lam Dong, Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Nong, is the lowest in the country, reaching only 69.6 years old. This is also the only region where the life expectancy of men is below the age of 70, 2.7 years behind the national average.
In the Central Highlands, Lam Dong is the only province with an average life expectancy for men over 70 years old. Accordingly, men here have an average life expectancy of 71.4 years and women are 76.6 years, both lower than the national average.
On a national scale, Lai Chau is the province with the lowest average life expectancy for men in the country, only at 62.9 years old. The next positions belonged to Dien Bien (67 years old) and Kon Tum (67.1 years old). This is the group of male provinces with the lowest average life expectancy in Vietnam.
The Southeast is the region with the highest average male life expectancy in the country, reaching 73.9 years old. Of the 5 provinces/cities in this region (including Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Long An, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Dong Nai), Ba Ria - Vung Tau is the place where men live the longest at 74.2 years old.
