A Northern province has the latest rate of men getting married

Thai Binh is the locality with the highest average age of first marriage among men in the North.

According to the results of the 2024 Population and Housing Survey of the General Statistics Office, the age of first marriage of Vietnamese people is getting higher and higher. Urban areas will marry later than rural areas.

In 2024, the average age of first marriage of the Vietnamese population aged 15 and over will be 27.3 - an increase of 2.1 compared to 2019. Of which, men have an average age of 29.4 years and women are 25.2 years old.

The rate of married people aged 15 and over is 74.9%. The most common marital status among people aged 15 and over in Vietnam is "Husband/wife" (having a wife/husband) reaching 65.3%.

Data from the General Statistics Office shows that the higher the education level of people, the higher the average age of marriage. Accordingly, a high school graduate will get married for the first time around the age of 29.8. For those who have just graduated from primary and secondary school, the average age of marriage is 28.4 years old.

In the Northern region, out of 25 provinces and cities, Thai Binh is the locality with the latest men to get married for the first time. Young men here often choose to marry late, the average age is 30.2.

This is also the only locality in the North with an average age of marriage for men over 30 years old. Meanwhile, men in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh got married at the age of 28.9 and 29.3, respectively.

According to the results of the 2024 Population and Housing Census, Hanoi men get married for the first time at an average age of 29.5 years. Although higher than the national average, Hanoi is still behind Thai Binh, not the place where men get married the latest in the North.
