A song by NewJeans is going viral among local communities in the US for an unexpected reason.

According to Koreaboo, on September 30, a famous streamer (ranked 15th in the world and 10th in the US) named Jason played the song "ETA" by Kpop girl group NewJeans on his broadcast, to celebrate having 100,000 subscribers on America's leading video game live streaming platform - Twitch.

In a video clip from the livestream, Jason and his friends sang and freestyled to the chorus of “ETA.” Posts about the video quickly went viral with millions of views on Twitter.

Even locals and non-Kpop streamers started to learn about NewJeans' song "ETA".

Jason's Twitter account reshared a video that has been viewed 2.8 million times and captioned it: "I love NewJeans."

Thanks to the broadcast effect, the song "ETA" increased by hundreds of thousands of streams every day. In 4 consecutive days from September 29 to October 2, this song reached 322,985, 424,271, 563,295 and 659,860 streams on Spotify respectively.

“ETA” was NewJeans’ most-streamed song for two consecutive days, October 1-2, despite being the group’s first release last year. The song currently has a total of 275.3 million streams on Spotify.

“ETA" is one of the title tracks of NewJeans' mini album "Get Up", released in July 2023. Not only is it a music video, it is also a collaboration between NewJeans, director Shin Woo Seok of Dolphiners Films and Apple. The MV "ETA" was filmed entirely on iPhone 14 Pro.

This March, the MV "ETA" won the bronze medal in the "Entertainment Brand - Music Video" category at the world's most prestigious advertising festival The One Show 2024.
