In a conversation with Lao Dong reporter, actor Bui Thac Phong shared that he had participated in professional football training.
When he was still in school, Bui Thac Phong had a period of active participation in the youth team of Hanoi FC, having been trained and competed for 4 years. Due to a serious injury, he gave up his professional acting career and switched to acting.
Bui Thac Phong was born in 2003, the second son of director Bui Thac Chuyen and actress Tu Oanh. He was supported by his parents to pursue his passion for art.
However, Thac Phong admitted that there was a time when he struggled and lost direction when he stopped playing sports and returned to his daily life.
"When I confided to my parents about studying acting, they all supported me. I understand the pressure and hardship of my parents, but I am not afraid of hardship, I may still be Naive at that time," the actor shared.
After that, Bui Thac Phong studied acting at Hanoi University of Theatre and Cinema, participating in a number of short films before having his first film role in "Rain on the butterfly".
At the 81st Venice Film Festival, "Rain on the butterfly Wings" won 2 awards as Best Director and Best Film award at the International Film Critic Week.
This film also marks the first time Bui Thac Phong has co-starred in a film with his mother - actress Tu Oanh.

In 2024, Bui Thac Phong starred in the TV series "No Time" and became more known to the audience. In "No Time", Bui Thac Phong plays Linh - a young soldier with a stubborn, greedy, and selfish personality. After a period of training with his teammates, Linh changed his personality, becoming more strong and diligent.
Sharing about his first time acting in a TV series, the actor confided: "I have to learn to get used to the way TV series operate. For a young actor like me, I have difficulty because the nature of TV series is very fast, each scene is only filmed 1-2 times.
In the first days of filming, I struggled quite a bit because I didn't have the opportunity to film back and forth many times. I didn't have time to prepare because the script could change constantly, unlike what I was calculating."
Bui Thac Phong admitted that he is a closed, social media user who is not ready to become famous. When he received negative comments from the audience, he only knew through friends. However, the actor comfortably received compliments and criticisms from the audience.
In the near future, the actor will have a role in "Tunnel: Sun in the dark" - a work directed by Bui Thac Chuyen.
