Kpop boy group CORTIS is receiving a wave of praise from many major international media after releasing their second mini album "GreenGreen".
The album released on May 4 helped the group become one of the most noticed new generation rookies in the global music market.
According to industry reports, "GreenGreen" is a self-produced project, in which all 5 members (James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, Keonho) participate in music composition, choreography and image content development.
The group's identity as a "young creative team" is the core of the album's idea, symbolizing the division of emotions and aesthetics into "green - green" (positive, creative energy) and "red - red" (suppressed or rejected elements).
America's leading business magazine Forbes described CORTIS' development as a "GreenGreen wave", while praising their clear artistic orientation and team spirit. The magazine also commented that the 6 songs in the album have shown many diverse musical colors through each song.
VMAN fashion and culture magazine emphasized the group's maturity since their debut mini album, saying that the accuracy in their creativity has improved significantly.
VMAN also said that CORTIS is now showing more confidence in shaping its own identity as global coverage is increasingly expanding.
Meanwhile, the British magazine Dazed offers a style-oriented perspective, describing the album as "more crude, sharper, and deliberately more detailed" than previous products.
The magazine also praised the group's simplicity and not being too meticulous, saying that this is the point that makes them different from many Kpop groups that depend heavily on building a worldview.
Dazed also commented that, in an era where "honesty" is abused too much, CORTIS stands out thanks to their natural and uncompressed image, which paradoxically increases their appeal.
The title track "RedRed" also received much attention. Forbes praised the catchy chorus and the vibrant rhythm of the song, calling it a song with great appeal to the mass market.
The American entertainment show Entertainment Tonight also chose this song as a product to "watch" even before the album was released.
Not only highly appreciated by critics, the album "GreenGreen" also achieved strong global sales. The album recorded more than 2.31 million copies sold in its first week on Hanteo, ranking in the group of best-selling Kpop products of the year.
The album also reached #2 on Japan's Oricon Weekly Album chart, while the title track appeared on many international charts such as Spotify Daily Top Songs Global and Billboard "Bubbling Under Hot 100".
