Le Hoang Long plays the role of Special Forces Sen, a character recognized by director Dang Thai Huyen as the most haunting role in the film.
Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, Le Hoang Long said that until now he is still haunted by the role of Sen.
Actually, I tried very hard to escape the obsession with the role of Sen, but the more I tried, the deeper the character became, and I could not leave. Only when the family incident happened did the private pain accidentally make me forget and push the character away, so that I could return to real life - to work, to my family and personal responsibilities, Le Hoang Long confided.
When asked about the "family incident", he said that was his father's passing: "When I accepted to participate in "Red Rain", my biggest thought was to dedicate this work to my father - who was a soldier, who directly participated in the Vi Xuyen front.
I always hope to be able to complete the film and consider it a gift to my parents. But unfortunately, my father is no longer around. Therefore, half of this gift had to be left, only the mother and family went to see it.
When my mother watched the film, she did not say much about the role, only saying that she might not be able to bear it... She loved her children and the losses and sacrifices of her father's generation. You love my father - who spent many years on the battlefield...
But I know that deep down, she is very proud to see her son persistently pursuing his passion, having a role for the audience to accept and love".
When playing the role of Sen, the actor had to be away from home for half a year to follow the film crew. At that time, he was married and had a 2-year-old child. He had to spend time talking, encouraging, helping his wife feel secure and understand her work schedule.
When asked "What will I compensate for my wife and children after many months away from home", Le Hoang Long said: "The biggest gift for me is "Red Rain" which was born and reached the audience.
My wife can now watch movies, and later, when my son is old enough, he will also be able to watch. I believe it will be the most meaningful gift I can give to my child - a work created from the efforts of myself and the whole crew, welcomed and respected by the audience.
For the actor, the role of Sen in "Red Rain" will be an unforgettable role in his life. On set, Le Hoang Long and other actors all went through a persistent training process. In the film, Sen is a special forces soldier, one of the two most experienced fighters in squadron 1.
Talking about the wounds on set, Le Hoang Long shared: I dont think Im alone, because my role as a special effects player makes action, martial arts, and boxing appear a lot. Right from the start of the training, we have continuously suffered injuries: scratches, bruises, swelling or flatulence... all the time. But for me, all those injuries don't matter."
For the actor, the most important thing is to live fully in the character, so that the audience can see the strong and steadfast fighting spirit of our ancestors - the people who sacrificed so that today we can have peace.
That is the motivation for him and his teammates to always try their best, whether in thrilling action scenes, arduous river swims or even when faced with injuries, the cast of "Red Rain" still completes their roles well.
