The news that Cai Luong artist Le Phuong died in a collision with a truck on his way to sing at a funeral in Long An on November 3 shocked many people.
A day before, artist Le Phuong posted a photo of herself wearing a white ao dai, singing at a funeral. Due to economic difficulties, she took on additional shows for a provincial opera troupe, singing at funerals to earn extra income.
Hearing the news of Le Phuong's death, colleagues and audiences were heartbroken. Artists Tu Quyen, Gia Han, Thu Van, Thy Trang... were all saddened and sent their farewells.
In the eyes of her friends, Le Phuong is a hard-working person, studying and running shows at the same time, always asking teachers and colleagues for introductions to have opportunities to perform to support her life in Ho Chi Minh City.
On his personal page, director Hoang Chuong - a lecturer at the University of Theater and Cinema in Ho Chi Minh City - shared: "Early in the morning, when I received the news that my student had passed away, my heart ached, and I couldn't hold back my tears. I felt sorry for my child because of the hard life he had to work hard to make a living, and he had to temporarily put his studies on hold when he had one more semester to graduate as a cai luong actor.
A while later, when I heard that you wanted to retake the graduation exam, I was extremely happy and proactively helped you with all my heart. I never expected that it would be the last time we met. Rest in peace, my child.”
Artist Tu Quyen also confided about Le Phuong: "When I heard that Ms. Le Phuong had passed away, I was shocked and heartbroken, I felt so sorry for her! To make a living, she had to run around performing shows until late at night, and then had to pass away due to a traffic accident."
Le Phuong comes from the class of Cai Luong Actors K17, Faculty of Traditional Drama, Ho Chi Minh City University of Theater and Cinema.
Le Phuong's name is associated with roles loved by audiences such as Ly Than Phi in the play Bao Cong Vo Lo Gach, Chi Dau in the play Tat Den, Mau Don Tien in the play Nang Tien Mau Don...
Le Phuong collaborated and performed for the Long An Opera Troupe, occasionally singing for audiences at small entertainment venues and funerals because of life's difficulties.
