Recently, at the press conference to launch the Korean drama First man on MBC, actress Oh Hyun Kyung - Miss Korea 1989 - attracted attention when sharing about the difficult period in her career as an actress.
The 55-year-old actress mentioned the general gloom of the Korean entertainment industry today and expressed her gratitude for still having the opportunity to act in films.
This is a really difficult time for everyone, and actors are no exception. Thats why Im so grateful to be in such a great film.
At my age, it's easy to be a security guard, but this role is a real challenge. It requires a lot of energy and the lines to be remembered.
Just having the spirit to accept a new challenge at this stage of life is a matter of concern. I am really happy with this opportunity, Oh Hyun Kyung said.
First Man is a revenge film revolving around two women: one who borrows the identity of another to carry out a revenge plan, and the other who steals the life of another to satisfy personal ambitions. The tense, survival confrontation between the two is the focus of the film.
In it, Oh Hyun Kyung plays Chae Hwa Young - apparently a virtuous bride in front of President Ma, but in fact is just an arrogant, two-faced and calculating person.

Regarding the approach to the role, Oh Hyun Kyung shared: I think the best way is to stick to the script, which has been built very in detail and tightly. The director also helps orient emotions so that we do not deviate from the character's spirit."
She also mentioned a line of the character: I dont want to live like a spawning fish on the mat, always chosen by others. I want to live a life where I have the right to choose.
The actress said that although Hwa Young believes that her ambition is legitimate, it all comes down to a wrong start.
The script calls her the Supreme counterfeit boss, so I try to portray many different shades of this character, including the hidden pain behind her actions, she added.
Oh Hyun Kyung's real name is Oh Sang Ji, born in 1970. She debuted as an actress at the age of 18, in the movie The Tree of Love.
