Recently, a press conference for the upcoming drama of JTBC The Good Man was held, with the participation of director Song Hae Sung and the cast of Lee Dong Wook, Lee Sung Kyung, Park Hoon, Oh Na Ra, Ryu Hye Young.
The Good Man tells the story of Park Seok Chul (Lee Dong Wook), the eldest son of a gangster family (black society), and Kang Mi Young (Lee Sung Kyung), an ambitious singer but afraid of the stage.
The film follows their reunion and healing of their emotions as adults, promising a profound humane story with themes of family, love and internal conflict.
Lee Dong Wook's character Park Seok Chul is a pure gangster who has given up everything for love. He dreamed of becoming a novelist but became a gangster against his wishes.
The moment he decided to change his life, he had a fateful reunion with his first love Kang Mi Young, and was caught up in a spiral of violence.

This is the first time Lee Dong Wook has taken on a black social role in 26 years since his debut. The director said that the reason he chose Lee Dong Wook was because the actor easily created empathy.
As for Lee Dong Wook himself, he shared: I chose this work mostly for personal reasons. I have been acting in fantasy films for about 4-5 years. Creating a new world of quan to is very difficult, for example, flying in the sky by cable, or becoming an uncle who does not exist in this world and saving his grandchild. I'm tired of the fantasy genre."
He added: I have great respect for the screenwriter and director, who can be described as Oldboy in the industry. I chose this role because I wanted a real, realistic role.
According to Lee Dong Wook, he did not prepare much for the film: I only act like a daily life. I think Lee Dong Wook's daily life will also be expressed in this work. I want to play an ordinary character that you can see in real life.
The Good Man will air every Friday on JTBC, starting from July 18.
This film is a prelude to JTBC's strategic change. Previously, JTBC's weekend dramas were only broadcast on Saturdays and Sundays, avoiding direct conflicts with SBS and MBC's 6th - 7th seasons.
However, with the addition of a 6th show, a direct competition for viewership will take place. JTBC expressed confidence in the release of the 6th drama, saying it would " further strengthen JTBC's influence during the golden hours of the weekend".
