According to Hankook Ilbo, the weekend drama "Our Movie" currently airing on SBS, starring Nam Goong Min and Jeon Yeo Been, only achieved an average rating of about 3%.
"Our Movie" debuted with a rating of 4.2%, but quickly dropped to 3% in the second episode. As of episode 10, the drama achieved a rating of 3.9%, far behind the work before "The Haunted Palace" - always maintaining a rating of about 9-10%, even though the main actors are not famous faces.
Nam Goong Min, the actor who caused a fever with the hit film "My Dearest", personally promoted "Our Movie" on social networks.
He posted a screenshot of an article titled "Our Movie" criticizing the low rating and stated: "Although the rating is low, I am still very confident. So, please watch until episode 5, if the situation does not improve, that is my responsibility.
In fact, "Our Movie" has never achieved a rating of 5% for 10 episodes.
The film revolves around the relationship between aspirational actress with impetigo Lee Da Eum (Jeon Yeo Been) and film director Lee Jae Ha (Nam Goong Min) who are struggling in the context of fierce competition.
While "Our Movie" aims to become an emotional drama, both critics and audiences believe that the slow pace and long-term explanations of the plot made it difficult for the film to attract new audiences.
"The first episodes spent too much time on the male lead's family story. That makes the plot stagnant and difficult to grasp" - one viewer commented.

The broadcast timing is also a challenge. "Our Movie" aired in June, when many works of online platforms were dominating, typically "Squid Game 3".
According to Good Data, "Squid Game 3" accounted for 46.8% of the total viewership in the first week of July, far surpassing JTBC's "Good Boy" with 13.3%. Our Movie ranked 5th, after Head over Heels and Law and the City.
The film's theme is not suitable seasonally, which could also be a factor that makes the work less noticed. Psychological dramas that require deep immersion often achieve better results in the fall or winter.
In contrast, summer is often the season for lighter or horror films. With the heat wave in Korea this year starting earlier than usual, the audience may not be interested in plots with too heavy and emotional heart.
Considering the history of broadcasting SBS's weekend films in many genres, from romance, martial arts to politics, thriller, the current poor performance of "Our Movie" is especially noteworthy, when compared to the previous success of Nam Goong Min in the work of the same time frame.
Because the audience's expectations for the actor are very high, the low rating of "Our Movie" is also a big disappointment.
