Our Movie is a drama that tells the painful love story of Lee Je Ha (Nam Goong Min) - a film director struggling with an uncertain future, and Lee Da Eum (Jeon Yeo Been) - an ambitious actress suffering from Thanh Hoa disease.
Regarding the reason for accepting the invitation to participate in Our Movie, Nam Goong Min shared: Director Lee Jung Heum, who directed this project, worked with me 8 years ago.
After we met and discussed how he planned to approach the filming process, as well as express the feelings of the story, I spent a few days thinking about it.
After that, I thought it would be a shame as an actor to refuse the project. Because the film script was written very seriously.
Nam Goong Min's role as Lee Je Ha is a genius film director who was once praised, but now he cannot release a new work. He was haunted by the belief that his past success was a lie.
Nam Goong Min spoke more clearly about the character's inner self: "On the outside, he seems like a successful director, but on the inside, he is filled with emptiness and deep emotional wounds.
If I had to describe this work in a few words or a specific genre, I would say silent love or a calm but profound romance film.
The actor added: Lee Je Ha is the one who expresses his emotions through actions rather than words. He may be shy when expressing himself, but his sincerity is deeper than anyone else. Seeing him slowly collapse and change, even though it was just in front of Lee Da Eum, was really touching.
According to Nam Goong Min, the way he approached this character is somewhat different from the characters he played before.
"Lee Je Ha shows more emotion through her eyes and silence. He looked calm and quiet, but inside, he kept struggling with himself. I have paid a lot of attention to conveying unspoken emotions through my acting.
I played Je Ha in the hope that even if I did not speak up, the gentle waves in his emotions would still touch the audience. That made the role more difficult, but it also made me feel more attached to it.
Nam Goong Min has made his mark with his ability to act in SBS dramas Stove League and One Dollar Lawyer. Although he also invested a lot in the character this time, Nam Goong Min could not help but feel pressured by the new role.
Both Baek Seung Soo (in Stove League) and Cheon Ji Hoon (in One Dollar Lawyer) are both popular characters, so I was very worried about whether I could convey the same depth of emotions and connection to the audience.
Whether this becomes another decisive role in my career depends on the audience. But I really put all my emotions into this performance. I think that is something everyone can look forward to.
