On August 26, a video recording a young woman defending herself when being attacked by a tattooed man in the apartment parking tunnel suddenly caused a "storm" on social media.
The incident happened in May, but it was only when the clip was spread that the online community became bustling.
In the video, while standing next to a motorbike, the girl was suddenly approached by a young man and slapped directly in the face. Immediately, she took off her helmet, counterattacked and controlled the opponent with decisive martial arts moves.
The main character is Ms. H.H (28 years old), who has been practicing Jiu-jitsu and MMA since 2021. H. said that on the day the incident happened, she went into the basement of her sister's car to go to her sister's gym and was defamed by a young man because of her schoolwork. After that, H. defended himself and asked the other person to apologize.
Right after H.'s younger sister shared the video online, many people agreed with the girl's calmness and self-defense ability.
Actor, martial artist Johnny Tri Nguyen, founder of Lien Phong martial arts school, posted a thank you post to the girl. He shared that, thanks to this clip, "werker schools and clubs will sometimes attract more female students".
The famous fighter teased that he had "reported" to organize the tournament to promote MMA, but the effectiveness was not as good as the few martial arts tricks that H. released in the clip.
Not only that, Johnny Tri Nguyen also joked that he would " giving the MMA scholarship" to that tattooed young man to "learn the spirit of integrity, not bullying the weak".
MMA is a mixed martial arts sport, combining many schools, allowing fighters to use both standing chopsticks (fighting, kicking, knee, and shoveling) as well as object techniques and floor tightening locks. Modern MMA began to develop strongly in the 1990s, especially when the UFC tournament was born in 1993 in the US. Since 2001, UFC has helped MMA shine as an official sport with hundreds of large and small tournaments around the world.
In Vietnam, this sport is also receiving increasing attention. Boxer Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat competed at LION Championship and participated in the program "Anh trai vu ngan chong gai" which contributed to making MMA a martial art popular with many audiences.
