30-year-old actress Lam Thanh Nha plays Binh, one of the soldiers of squad 1 participating in the 81 day and night war to protect the ancient citadel of Quang Tri.
Binh was a young soldier who arranged a pen to study and set off for the battle. Although he loves beauty and is passionate about painting, when witnessing the losses on the battlefield, Binh is more determined to fight for peace and unity of the country.
When playing the role of Binh in "Red Rain", the actor realized that the most difficult thing was not the action scenes, weather or script, but how to express the demeanor and spirit of a soldier in historical times.
The character Binh must go through the process of growing from a weak young man to a resilient soldier, and that transformation is the biggest challenge.
The highlight of the character to me is two things: First, the character has a smile that many audiences commented is the light in the fierce battlefield.
Second is the journey to maturity from a Naive, awkward young soldier, to being forced to be strong, holding a gun to protect his comrades, protecting the citadel. This maturity is what touched me the most, Lam Thanh Nha shared.
Lam Thanh Nha grew up in a family with difficult circumstances in Tien Giang.
Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Lam Thanh Nha said: "My house is very small, my mother works in the fields, my father sells lottery tickets. Since I was a child, I have been used to making money on my own. On Saturdays and Sundays, I sell lottery tickets, and during the summer, I sell more. When grade 9 comes, I go pick picking melons and chili to earn money to buy cakes and play video games. It's as simple as that.
Around grade 8 and grade 9, his parents were no longer together. I started to be independent, studied high school in another town, then worked in many other jobs: blowing table and chair painting, weaving, making wood... Later, when I moved to Ho Chi Minh City, I continued to do many other jobs. Thinking back, it was also lucky, because thanks to that, I had more experience and understood the lives of many people better".
Before becoming an actor, Lam Thanh Nha worked in a hotel. He said that after 6 years, he has worked in almost every position from restaurant service, swimming pool, office worker, receptionist and then manager. He learned many things, from professional style to how to behave with customers. He has followed those habits until now, even in his role.
After graduating from the Academy of Posts and Telecommunications, he worked as a photo model and participated in mass roles. Last year, Lam Thanh Nha had her first film role in the movie The Price of Happiness.
Looking back on her journey, Lam Thanh Nha frankly said: "My family's starting point is not zero but negative. I always want to take financial responsibility. Now I am proud to have done what I wish for. My parents broke up a long time ago, I never saw them sit at the same table when I was young, but now I can bond again, even though each person has their own life.
After "Red Rain", Lam Thanh Nha continued to try her hand at two film projects scheduled to be released in October, "Cai Ma" and "Nha ma".
