Recently, after much speculation, major fashion magazines such as Vogue Korea and WWD Korea announced that Kpop idol Mingyu from the group Seventeen has officially been appointed as the latest brand ambassador for the French luxury fashion house Dior.
Through Vogue, the brand stated: "A Kpop icon and a member of Seventeen, Mingyu, has joined us as a Dior ambassador.
Mingyu perfectly embodies the unique creativity of the Dior House, continuously reimagined through Kim Jones, the artistic director of Dior men's fashion.
Look forward to the special collaboration between Dior and Mingyu, where boldness and creativity seamlessly blend together."
Previously, Mingyu caused a stir when he first attended the Dior show at Paris Fashion Week last February. Photos of the male singer holding a bouquet of white flowers in a blue suit on his way to the show went viral on social media.
Becoming a Dior ambassador, Mingyu officially joins the ranks of other Korean stars (also Dior ambassadors) such as Jimin (BTS), Haerin (NewJeans), Kim Yuna, Sehun (EXO), Han So Hee, Kim Min Ha, Jung Hae In, Lomon, the boy group TXT, and Jisoo (Blackpink).
Notably, netizens expressed excitement over Mingyu's connections with many Blackpink members.
At the Dior show in Paris last February, the moment Jisoo smiled brightly while chatting with Mingyu thrilled fans.
Not only is he a Dior ambassador alongside Jisoo, but Mingyu is also an ambassador for Bulgari - the jewelry brand that has a global ambassador contract with Lisa.
