According to family members, Gabriela has suffered from depression for a long time. Some local newspapers reported that the beauty had committed suicide.

According to Bahiadiaadia, Gabriela Mendes Viegas was hanging with her belt. Lucas Ferrara, 26, Gabriela Mendes Viegas' fiance, was the first to discover Gabriela in the room.
