The journey of more than 25 years of singing
Looking back on her journey of more than 25 years of singing, which milestone makes you most proud?
- For me, each milestone is worth being proud of. If there is no beginning, how can we get the next steps? From the first time stepping onto the professional stage, releasing his first album, to big live shows... all are deeply imprinted in his memories. I did not choose a specific moment, because every moment is associated with my own efforts and maturity.
When she was at the peak of her career, what motivated her to continue to be creative and dedicated?
- My motivation comes from constantly learning and being grateful. As each day passed, I reminded myself to improve a little. As I get more mature, the music I send to the audience becomes more meaningful. That is the source of energy for me to be creative, to never stop contributing.
What is your opinion about a successful artist: having many hits, many awards, or having a position in the hearts of the audience?
- An artist must have a hit to be known by the audience. The award is a recognition, an encouragement for me to try harder. But in the end, being in the hearts of the audience is the most important thing. Because only that feeling can help artists survive long-term.
In the process of your artistic activities, have you ever wanted to stop?
- I never want to stop. Sometimes I rest to regain my energy. Music is an indispensable part of my life.

Are you thinking about training a next generation of young singers under your own brand?
- I have not thought about officially becoming a student, but if I have the chance, I am ready to support. Duc Phuc's case is an example, when meeting, I saw a connection so I helped at first. For me, the word "fate" is more important than plan.
Business and management
What happened to bring you to the duet business?
- At first, I only released some souvenir products to the audience. Unexpectedly, they were warmly welcomed, so I expanded them. In 2007, I was the first Vietnamese singer to launch my own perfume and shower gel line. It was an interesting experiment, then gradually opened up opportunities for me to stay in business longer.
In many investment areas (music, fashion, perfume), which field are you most passionate about and how do you concept an "entertainer - artist"?
- I put the most effort into music and art, because that is the field I understand the most. In other areas, I mainly learn more because I know I am not good at those fields.
I am an artist, not a businessman - an artist. The two words should not be combined like that. It can be said that art is more reasonable to do it for commercial purposes (selling tickets). But that is the company's job, and I only focus on artistic content, and cannot participate in the company's ticket sales.
How is managingMT Entertainment different from standing on stage?
- I find the two completely different. Standing on stage, I was sublimated with music. Company management requires calculation, systematics and many other skills. However, currently the management has a director's concern, I only focus on things directly related to art.
For you, the goal in business is profit or sustainable value?
- For me, sustainability is more important. When real value is created, profits will come naturally. This is like art: When you put all your effort into it, certain results will appear.
Current life
What is the definition of "successful" in My Tam's eyes?
- For me, success is simply doing what you love with the best of your ability, and knowing how to be satisfied with what you have. After many years of working, for me, the greatest "asset" I have achieved is my maturity and the love of the audience. Thanks to music, I receive many good things, both at work and in life.
How do you balance pressure and stay optimistic?
- When I'm stressed, I often tell myself: everything will be fine. I don't let myself fall too deep into negativity. Instead, I choose to think simply and happily, because I believe that optimism always has healing power.
Many people think that making art requires a flying soul, while business tends to be rational. Do you agree with this point of view? And how do you apply it in your business?
- For me, art really needs to be soaring and emotional. But business must be reasonable. I often do everything when I feel happy, but also remind myself to stay alert so as not to make hasty decisions.
Do you want the audience to remember you as a diva, a businessman, or a simple person?
- I did not give any name. As long as the audience remembers My Tam's name and wants to listen to my music, that is too happy.
If you had chosen to start over, would you change the path you have taken?
- I have never thought about choosing again, because I have not seen a more beautiful path than the path I am taking. Every step, whether difficult or favorable, has brought me to this day. And I cherish everything.
What message do you want to send to young people when pursuing both art and business?
- Be honest and alert. Don't be afraid of difficulties, try your best and always be grateful for what you have. When you work with heart and perseverance, you will reap worthy results.
