According to Korea Times, actress Park Bo Young is taking on a career- deciding challenge in tvN's upcoming weekend drama "Our Unwritten Seoul" (Vietnamese title: An unknown Seoul).
She gave up her inherently gentle, warm image to bring a more daring and complex performance.
At the press conference on May 21, Park Bo Young appeared with co-stars Park Jin Young, Ryu Kyung Soo and director Park Shin Woo, to discuss the film, before it officially premiered on May 24.
Our Unwritten Seoul is a romantic film about twin sisters, in addition to having the same face, they are completely opposite each other. When they decide to exchange their lives through a lie, they begin a journey to discover themselves, love and personal growth.
Director Park Shin Woo called the script honest and un painted. In it, Park Bo Young plays both sisters Yoo Mi Ji and Yoo Mi Rae. Because the twin sisters both pretended to be the other person, it can be said that Park Bo Young needs to replace 4 roles in the film.
The actress modestly said that she only plays 2 roles, but this is a rare opportunity in her career: When I read the script, I knew this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. If it weren't for now, I probably wouldn't have had this opportunity again.
"I will live like you, and you will live like me". As soon as I read that line, I knew I had to participate in this film, the actress said.
Unlike the usual image, Park Bo Young also took bold steps in character creation, including changing her hairstyle, causing many controversies.
Park Bo Young shared: "Mi Rae, one of the twin sisters, was emotionally exhausted and had a cold appearance. We have thought a lot about how to express that through look, including how to use or remove color.
The most difficult part was to maintain balance when the two sisters pretended to be each other, but the director helped a lot on set".
The black leg bleach hairstyle that looks slightly rough was suggested by the director to Park Bo Young. "We want to feel a clear difference and I am satisfied with the result," Park Bo Young expressed.
For director Park Shin Woo, Our Unwritten Seoul is a fresh start for him after the failure of the When the Stars Gossip, starring Lee Min Ho and Gong Hyo Jin.

With an attractive revealed plot and a famous cast, Our Unwritten Seoul will premiere on May 24 on tvN and Netflix platforms.
