Recently, on the Instagram account jeanzforfree (created by 5 members of the group NewJeans - Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein), the girls posted a post calling on fans to suggest a new group name.
“Bunnies! We are holding a contest for 2 days to find the new group name that we will use for a certain period of time. Please participate in the comments” - jeanzforfree wrote.
There were tens of thousands of comments under the post. The group names suggested by fans that received the most approval were “Newdreams”, “Newer Jeans”, “Jeanz Club”, “Blue Jeanz”, “NewGenZ”, “Denimz”, “Jeanz”, “Hares”...
There were even comments suggesting naming the new group “Min Hee Jeans” - a combination of NewJeans and former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin.
Another humorous comment that said “You guys can change your name to Bunnies, and we’ll be NewJeans” received over 20k likes (Bunnies is the name of the NewJeans fan community).
Besides, fans also speculated whether this was a sign of a surprise activity of the girls in the near future.
Especially in the context that 5 NewJeans members just announced on the morning of January 23 that they have hired a team of professional lawyers to act as legal representatives against ADOR Company and HYBE Group.
In the statement, the five girls said they had accepted ADOR's petition to "confirm the validity of the exclusive contract" and to request "an injunction to restrain them from acting as representatives of the company and signing advertising contracts."
The five girls authorized Sejong Law Firm (Shin & Kim LLC) as their legal representative to deal with this matter.
“HYBE and ADOR have failed in their duty to protect and support their artists. The reality is that during our activities, we faced countless obstacles and were even in a situation where we could be replaced at any time. They used words like ‘long-term vacation’ to disguise their intention to end our careers,” they added.
In addition, 5 girls from ADOR and HYBE spread false information and approached parents to divide the group.
Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein affirmed: “The five of us have absolutely no intention of returning to work with HYBE and ADOR, where we have lost the minimum trust in the contractual relationship,” “We are determined to fight confidently in court.”
