Step 1: Register online on the first-level enrollment portal
From 8:00 AM on June 9th to 4:30 PM on June 14th, parents access the Ho Chi Minh City entrance exam portal at tuyensinhdaucap. hcm. edu. vn to fill in registration information for the entrance exam to grade 6 of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School.
After completing registration, parents print registration forms from the system to carry out the next procedures.
Step 2: Submit supporting documents at the school
In the same period from June 9 to 4:30 PM on June 14, parents submit supporting documents directly at Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School (No. 20 Ly Tu Trong, Saigon ward).
The dossier includes: A valid copy of the 5th grade transcript or the 5th grade year-end transcript (certified or with the original for comparison); Application form for the survey printed from the entrance gateway system.
After successful registration, from 8 am on June 24 to 4:30 pm on June 26, parents come to Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School to receive survey participation cards. When receiving the cards, parents bring the survey registration form printed from the enrollment system.
Students conduct a competency survey on July 1st at the location indicated on the survey participation card.
When participating in the survey, students must bring their student card and survey participation card. Student cards must have the primary school's seal on the photo; in case of using magnetic cards or plastic cards printed with photos, the seal is not required.
According to the plan, the survey results are expected to be announced on July 7. Admitted students will submit enrollment applications from July 8 to 4:30 PM on July 14.
The capacity survey of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School consists of 2 parts: multiple-choice and essay in 90 minutes.
Multiple-choice section: 20 questions, exam time 30 minutes.
Essay section: 60 minutes, including English proficiency survey (hearing comprehension, reading comprehension, writing in English); math and logic thinking proficiency survey; reading comprehension and writing proficiency survey in Vietnamese.
According to Lao Dong statistics, the competition ratio for grade 6 of Tran Dai Nghia Secondary and High School in recent years has tended to increase sharply.
In 2025, the school enrolled 350 students but had up to 4,851 candidates registered for the survey, corresponding to a competition ratio of about 1/14, the highest in the past 8 years. Previously, in 2024, the competition ratio was also at about 1/12 with 4,301 candidates registered for 350 quotas.
This increase takes place in the context of enrollment quotas decreasing from about 525-535 students per year to 350 students from 2024, while the number of registered candidates is still maintained at a high level. This is also the first phase of the school operating under a new model after being separated from Tran Dai Nghia High School for the Gifted.
In the period 2018-2023 (except for 2021, which was considered for admission due to the impact of the COVID-19 epidemic), the competition rate for admission to the school was relatively stable, fluctuating from about July 1 to September 1.
