The Ministry of Education and Training has just issued guidelines for organizing the national high school excellent student selection exam for the 2025-2026 school year.
According to the instructions, the exam will be held on December 25-26, 2025.
In particular, on December 25, candidates will take the written exam for Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature, History, Geography, English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese and the computer programming exam for IT.
On December 26, candidates took the written exam for Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology; Speaking exam for English, Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese and computer programming exam for IT.
The exam content is according to the General Education Program issued with Circular No. 32/2018/TT-BGDDT dated December 26, 2018; amended and supplemented by Circular No. 13/2022/TT-BGDDT dated August 3, 2022 and Circular No. 17/2025/TT-BGDDT dated September 12, 2025.
For foreign language exams in Russian, French, Chinese, Japanese, the exam content is according to the current General Education Program and Official Letter No. 4171/BGD&DT-GDTrH dated August 26, 2022 of the Ministry of Education and Training guiding the implementation of the specialized program for high school-level subjects.
The exam will be transferred through the system of the Government Equipment Committee. The reception and printing of exam questions are carried out according to the instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training sent to units before December 15, 2025. In case the reserve exam questions are required to be used, the Ministry of Education and Training will decide and announce the exam schedule, guiding the use of the reserve exam questions.
The participating units used unified national excellent student selection exam management software provided by the Ministry of Education and Training. The excellent student exam software and instructions on using excellent student exam software will be sent to units before November 18, 2025.
The Ministry of Education and Training will notify the contestants about the organization of Examination Councils and mobilize personnel to participate in the Examination Councils before December 16, 2025.
For the IT and Foreign Language exams, arrange supervisors to consider IT as lecturers and teachers teaching IT; supervisors to consider Foreign Language exams as lecturers and teachers teaching Foreign Language.
To ensure timely handling of situations arising during the examination of the Foreign Language exam, each exam room has at least one supervisor in the room who is a lecturer or teacher who is teaching or understands the Foreign Language subject of that exam room.
The contestants and the Exam Consideration Councils need to develop a plan to implement the preparation work and organize the examination as follows:
The working start date of the Council's leaders is considered to be no later than December 23, 2025. The exam review council opened on December 24, 2025. The official exam will be on December 25 and 26, 2025.
