Ministry of Education and Training guides the basis for reducing teaching norms for part-time teachers

The basis for reducing teaching hours for part-time teachers is a question that teachers are concerned about and the Ministry of Education and Training has answered.

Ms. B.T. Q (Hanoi) is a secondary school teacher of grade II, currently teaching secondary school culture and working in the testing and quality assurance department of education. Ms. Quynh asked, are there any regulations on reducing lesson norms for cases like her?

Regarding this issue, the Ministry of Education and Training answers as follows:

The working regime of general education teachers is implemented according to the provisions of Circular No. 05/2025/TT-BGDĐT dated March 7, 2025 of the Minister of Education and Training. According to the provisions of this Circular, the average teaching period in 1 week for secondary school teachers is 19 periods.

At the same time, the Circular also stipulates the reduction of teaching norms for teachers assigned to concurrently perform some professional tasks, Party work, mass organizations, organizations in schools and some other job positions according to regulations.

According to the information provided, Ms. B.T. N. Q is a secondary school cultural teacher, and is also assigned to perform the task of testing and ensuring the quality of education. However, the information has not clarified the form of arrangement, assignment of tasks, specific job positions as well as the basis for assigning tasks of the using unit. Therefore, there is not enough basis to determine whether she is eligible for a reduced teaching time limit according to the provisions of Circular No. 05/2025/TT-BGDĐT or not.
