On the afternoon of June 5, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Education and Training organized a Conference to announce decisions to appoint key leadership positions for educational institutions under the Ministry.
At the conference, the Ministry of Education and Training announced Decision No. 1519/QD-BGDDT dated June 4, 2026 on the appointment of Dr. Truong Tan Dat to hold the position of Rector of Dong Thap University.
According to the decision, Dr. Truong Tan Dat is currently the Secretary of the Party Committee of the school, and was appointed to the position of Principal for a term of 5 years. The decision takes effect from the date of signing.
The consolidation of key leadership personnel is implemented in the spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, contributing to improving the effectiveness of university governance, meeting the requirements of education and training innovation in the current period. This is also considered an important step to consolidate management capacity, improve the quality of training, scientific research and community service of higher education institutions, including Dong Thap University.
Dr. Truong Tan Dat was born in 1981, native of Phu Huu commune, Dong Thap province. He holds a PhD in Education Management, with a high-level political theory level.
During his work, he held many important leadership positions such as Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the University Council of Dong Thap University. In addition, he is also a delegate of the People's Council of Dong Thap province for the term 2026 - 2031.
With many years of attachment to the school in the fields of management, training and scientific research, the appointment of Dr. Truong Tan Dat as Rector is expected to create new momentum for the development of Dong Thap University, contributing to improving the quality of human resources serving the socio-economic development of the Mekong Delta region and the whole country. In the spirit of implementing the consolidation of key personnel according to Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW, dated August 22, 2025 of the Politburo on breakthroughs in education and training development, currently the Board of Directors of Dong Thap University currently includes: Rector Truong Tan Dat, Vice Rectors: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Van Thong, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ho Sy Thang, Dr. Nguyen Quoc Vu, Dr. Cao Dao Thep.
