On January 16, the Department of Education and Training of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province announced the third exam subject for admission to grade 10 of high school, and established criteria for admission to grade 6 of junior high school in the 2025-2026 school year.
In the 2025-2026 school year, the entrance exam for grade 10 high school will basically remain stable with 3 subjects: Literature, Math and English.
In which, Literature subject is tested in essay form, test time is 120 minutes; Math subject is a combination of multiple choice and essay (multiple choice accounts for 30%, essay accounts for 70% of total test score), test time is 120 minutes.
English subject combines multiple choice and written test, the test consists of 2 parts: Multiple choice test accounts for 60% of the total test score done on the multiple choice sheet; and written test (with listening content) accounts for 40% of the total test score done on paper), test time is 60 minutes.
For the entrance exam to Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, in addition to the three exams above, candidates must take a fourth exam in their desired specialized subject.
The Department of Education and Training also assigned the Heads of the Department of Education and Training of the district-level localities to, based on the actual conditions in the locality, develop principles and criteria for admission to grade 6 of junior high school for the 2025-2026 school year, and report to the Department of Education and Training before February 10, to unify implementation instructions.
For secondary schools with a number of students registering for admission exceeding the quota, schools that recruit 6th grade students from the source, it is necessary to develop criteria and plans to test and evaluate students' abilities according to the forms (as prescribed in the student assessment regulations) to implement fair, public, transparent enrollment, suitable to practical conditions.
