Ready for the new school year
According to schools in the city, preparations for the new school year have been implemented early and taken place urgently and synchronously.
At September 2 Kindergarten, Ms. Duong Thi Mai Tram - Principal of the school - said that in the 2025 - 2026 school year, the school has enrolled 340 children. It is expected that there will be 14 class groups (9 kindergartens and 5 groups of children). Up to now, from enrollment to facilities, everything has been guaranteed and is ready to welcome them.
Accordingly, all classrooms have been fully equipped with teaching equipment. In particular, the school also focuses on digital transformation in education, with the installation of audio-visical equipment and computer systems to support teachers in organizing educational activities for children in a vivid and effective manner.

Similarly, Tran Quoc Toan Primary School has reviewed the facilities and arranged classrooms for 1,422 students from grades 1 to 5 in the new school year, as well as conducted a general cleaning, arrangement and addition of tables and chairs to welcome them in the most thoughtful way.
Ms. Huynh Thi Xuan Lan - Principal of Tran Quoc Toan Primary School - informed: "With 40 classrooms (excluding functional rooms), the facilities at the school are basically adequate to accommodate 2 teaching and learning sessions/day in the new school year".
Taking advantage of surplus facilities
The Department of Education and Training (DET) of Can Tho City said that as of August 20, the whole city had 1,215 schools. Of which, 381 kindergartens and kindergartens. For general education, there are 834 schools, including 488 primary schools, 242 secondary schools (THCS), 104 high schools (High Schools) and high schools with many levels of education.
The city's general education level currently has 16,971 classrooms and functional rooms (10,076 classrooms for primary school, 4,378 classrooms for secondary school and 2,517 classrooms for high school). Although classrooms have not met the current class size, organizing 2 sessions/day for the 2nd session can be held outside the classroom.

According to the city's roadmap, in the 2025 - 2026 school year, 100% of primary schools will organize 2 teaching sessions/day. For secondary and high schools, this will depend on the situation of facilities and the teaching staff of each school. However, it is expected that all grade 9 (ages 9) and 12 (ages 12) students will study 2 sessions/day, in order to best prepare for important transfer and graduation exams.
Currently, the city's Department of Education and Training and the People's Committees of communes and wards are advising competent authorities to use surplus facilities due to the arrangement of administrative units to supplement the education sector to ensure school facilities, playgrounds, and practice areas to organize teaching and learning sessions 2 sessions/day.
