Exciting from the first minutes
Before the "G hour" of the final match of the Road to Olympia 2024, all 4 climbers shared that they will compete with all their might with the spirit of "nothing left to lose". The starting positions of the 4 contestants are: Nguyen Phu, Nhat Minh, Phu Duc and Trung Kien.
At the end of the first round - Warm-up, Phu Duc took the lead with 75 points. In the first warm-up round, Phu Duc answered all 6 questions correctly and got the perfect score of 60 points.
In second place, Trung Kien won 50 points. Nguyen Phu and Nhat Minh's scores were 45 and 15 points respectively.
Overcoming obstacles: Phu Duc unexpectedly rang the bell in the first minutes
In this part, 4 climbers have to decode a 7-character keyword.
As soon as the question was answered and the hint image was revealed, Phu Duc pressed the bell to claim the right to answer the obstacle. Phu Duc's answer was NET ZERO, along with a convincing explanation.
The boldness and determination of the Hue boy helped him to firmly consolidate his leading position, increasing the gap with his opponents with a score of 135.
At Ngo Mon Square (Hue City), everyone burst into happiness when hearing the 2 MCs announce the end of the competition after Phu Duc's answer.
Acceleration: Opportunity for climbers
Starting the acceleration round, Nhat Minh was the only one to answer the first question correctly.
Coming to the second question, all 4 contestants answered correctly, increasing their scores. Phu Duc still temporarily took the lead with a score of 195 - overwhelming his opponents.
The third speed-up question related to the message "Vietnam's foothold" was difficult for the climbers. All four contestants could not score points on this question.
In the final question, Phu Duc continued to seize the opportunity, answering correctly and quickly, earning 40 points. With the points gained after the acceleration round, Phu Duc continued to lead the climbing group with 235 points - far ahead of his competitors.
At the end of the Acceleration round, Trung Kien, Nguyen Phu, and Nhat Minh's scores were 120, 105, and 85 points respectively.
Finish Line: Dramatic to the Last Minute
Leading the score and entering the first finishing round, Phu Duc chose 3 questions worth 20 points. The first question could not be difficult for him. In the second question, Phu Duc did not give the correct answer but no one took the right to answer. In the last question, Nguyen Phu took the right to answer and raised his score to 125. At the end of his finishing round, Phu Duc kept his score of 235.
In the second round, Nguyen Phu chose the 20 - 30 - 30 point question package. Nguyen Phu answered the first question correctly. In the second question, Trung Kien had the opportunity to answer but he did not answer correctly. Choosing the hopeful star in the last question, Nguyen Phu answered correctly and raised his total score to 185 points.
When it was his turn to finish, Trung Kien answered the first question correctly, earning himself 30 points. The second question was no problem for him either. In the third question, Trung Kien chose the star of hope. However, Trung Kien could not answer this question in English. Nguyen Phu took the right to answer and rose to 215 points - only 20 points behind Phu Duc (who was in the lead). At the end of his finish, Trung Kien had a score of 125.
In the final round, Nhat Minh did not answer the first question correctly but won the second question. In Nhat Minh's last question and also the final question of the final round, Nhat Minh did not give an answer. Phu Duc pressed the bell to answer but it was not the correct answer either. At the end of the final round, Nhat Minh's score was 85 points.
Phu Duc was deducted 15 points, dropping to 220 points. But this score was enough for Phu Duc to become the new champion of the 24th year of Road to Olympia.
Only 5 points behind, Nguyen Phu finished in second place. Meanwhile, Nhat Minh and Trung Kien won third place in the Road to Olympia.
The final match of the 24th Road to Olympia program took place at 8:30 a.m. on October 13. The four male students competing in the final match were Tran Trung Kien (Le Hong Phong High School - Phu Yen), Nguyen Quoc Nhat Minh (Hung Vuong High School for the Gifted - Gia Lai), Vo Quang Phu Duc (Quoc Hoc High School for the Gifted - Thua Thien Hue), and Nguyen Nguyen Phu (High School for the Gifted - Hanoi National University of Education).
This is the first time Phu Yen and Gia Lai have students in the final round of Road to Olympia. Thua Thien Hue has the 7th representative and Hanoi National University of Education High School for the Gifted has the 2nd representative.
The winner of the Road to Olympia 2024 final will be awarded a laurel wreath made of brass and plated with 18k gold along with a prize of 50,000 USD (more than 1.2 billion VND); second prize 200 million VND; two third prizes 100 million VND each.
