The branch of Thai Nguyen University in Dien Bien province was established on the basis of Dien Bien Pedagogical College and Dien Bien Medical College.
On this occasion, Thai Nguyen University announced the decision to appoint the Director and Deputy Director of the Branch.
Accordingly, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thanh Ha - Vice Chairman of Thai Nguyen University Council, concurrently holds the position of Director of Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province until a new decision is made.
The Deputy Directors include: Dr. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy - Vice Rector of Dien Bien Pedagogical College; Specialist Doctor Pham The Hung - Vice Rector of Dien Bien Medical College; Dr. Doan Thanh Quynh - Vice Rector of Dien Bien Pedagogical College.

In the 2026-2027 school year, the Thai Nguyen University Branch in Dien Bien province will develop a training program and open university-level training majors: Primary Education; Preschool Education; Nursing; Agricultural Technology; Thai Language (Thai - Lao Language Program).
Continuing to enroll and train in 2 college-level majors: Preschool Education and Nursing; 3 intermediate-level majors (nursing, General Practitioner, Pharmacy).
In addition, member universities of Thai Nguyen University can enroll and place undergraduate and master's degree programs at the Branch to meet the needs of Dien Bien province and the Northwest region.

According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Van Hung - Director of Thai Nguyen University, the establishment of the Branch in Dien Bien province will make an important contribution to building high-quality local human resources in the fields of education, health, agriculture - forestry, tourism, science and technology.
In addition, training and fostering a team of cadres, civil servants, and public employees. Researching, transferring technology, and advising on policies of Dien Bien province as well as provinces in the region and Northern Laos.
Thai Nguyen University was established by the Government in 1994, is a multi-disciplinary, multi-field university with many types of training and different levels of education. The scale of learners in 2025 reached over 115,000 students and trainees.
Currently, Thai Nguyen University has 14 training units (including 7 universities, 1 college, Foreign Language School and International Faculty, 3 university branches in Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang and Dien Bien provinces, 1 Institute of Excellent Training and Research); 12 service centers, serving training and scientific research and 1 Publishing House.
