Reducing burden, increasing experience
The Department of Education and Training (DET) of Can Tho City said that according to the city's roadmap, in the 2025 - 2026 school year, 100% of primary schools in the area will organize 2 teaching sessions/day. For the secondary school and high school levels, this will depend on the situation of facilities and the teaching staff of each school.
However, all grade 9 (ages 9) and 12 (ages 12) students will study 2 sessions/day, in order to best prepare for important transfer and graduation exams.

Her daughter has studied 2 sessions in previous years, but Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huong (Ninh Kieu Ward) expressed her hope that, in addition to regular school hours, activities of consolidation, supplementation, skills education, and experience in the second session of this new school year will help her develop comprehensively; as well as reduce financial pressure on parents.
"Instead of having to travel between classes, my children will have more time to review knowledge right at school. What I expect most is that the curriculum will not only focus on cultural subjects, but also integrate extracurricular activities, arts and sports, giving my children the opportunity to explore and develop, Ms. Huong shared.

Having just entered grade 9, Mr. Tran Trong Nhan (O Mon Ward) agrees with the encouragement of teaching 2 sessions/day at the secondary school level. According to Mr. Nhan, the amount of knowledge at this level is quite heavy, especially for his son who is in his final year. Therefore, studying in 2 sessions will help children have enough time to consolidate and deepen knowledge under the guidance of teachers.
My wife and I will feel more secure when our children are at school for both sessions, instead of having to study at home. To make this program truly effective, I hope the school has a creative and flexible teaching method, not causing pressure on the children, Mr. Nhan expressed.
Implement synchronously and effectively
As of August 20, the whole city of Can Tho has 1,215 schools. Of which, 381 kindergartens and kindergartens. For general education, there are 834 schools, including 488 primary schools, 242 secondary schools, 104 high schools and general schools with many levels of education.

Speaking with Lao Dong, Ms. Tran Thi Huyen - Acting Director of the Department of Education and Training of Can Tho City - informed that from the beginning of the 2025 - 2026 school year, the department has directed schools and educational institutions to review facilities, number of students and classes as well as the teaching staff to develop a plan, synchronously and effectively implement the organization of teaching and learning in 2 sessions/day.
"Based on the number of students and classes, each school will balance and divide facilities to meet the second session for students to learn subjects of experience, skills, and extracurricular activities. To ensure that teaching 2 sessions/day meets the needs of students, each school will survey, synthesize and assign a team of appropriate teaching teachers, said Ms. Huyen.
Ms. Huyen also added that for schools that do not have enough teachers to teach 2 sessions/day, the unit will conduct additional guest lecturing outside to teach skills, enhance, and meet the needs of students and parents.
