Hanoi City is seeking comments on the Draft Resolution regulating the reward levels for teachers, students and trainees who achieve high results in city, national and international competitions and exams.
According to the proposal, the level of support for students who win prizes in international Olympic competitions sent by the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) will be awarded from 100 million VND to 250 million VND. Accordingly, students who win a gold medal will be awarded 250 million VND, silver medals (200 million VND), bronze medals (150 million VND) and encouragement prizes (100 million VND).
Students who win prizes in regional Olympic competitions in subjects, sent by the Ministry of Education and Training or authorized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to attend, will receive awards from 50 to 150 million VND.
Students who win prizes in national excellent student competitions sent by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will receive awards from 20 to 50 million VND.
Students who won first prize in the city-level competitions for excellent students in cultural subjects and scientific and technical research competitions organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will receive a reward of 10 million VND (for junior high school students) and 15 million VND (for high school students).
Teams, groups of students (from 2 members or more) winning prizes in the competitions specified above will receive support equal to twice that of individuals.
Ethnic minority students are awarded 1.5 times more.
Students who are ethnic minorities or people with disabilities and win prizes in international, regional, national or city competitions will receive support equal to 1.5 times the support level.
In case students who are both ethnic minorities and disabled and win prizes in international, regional, national or city competitions, they will receive support equal to twice the prescribed support level.
The draft also stipulates that teachers who directly train and nurture students and trainees who win prizes will receive 70% of the support level of the students and trainees.
The collective of teachers participating in training and fostering students and trainees will receive 30% of the support level of teachers directly training and fostering students and trainees who win prizes.
According to the Hanoi People's Committee, the source of funds for rewards and support is guaranteed by the city budget and is arranged in the annual education expenditure estimate assigned to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training according to the provisions of the State Budget Law.
It is expected that this proposal will be considered and approved by the Hanoi People's Council at the year-end meeting, held in December 2024.
