Dr. Le Anh Duc - Head of Training Management Department, National Economics University made the above assessment after analyzing the scores of subjects and the general level of high school graduation exam scores in 2025.
Accordingly, the average score of candidates in 5 traditional university admission combinations decreased by 0.8-2.1 compared to 2024, especially in combinations with Math and English.
Therefore, Mr. Duc predicts the overall decrease in the range of 2-3 points.
The National Economics University alone expects that the admission scores for majors this year may be lower than in 2024, depending on the major group/training program, it may be 1-2 points lower, said Dr. Le Anh Duc.
Mr. Duc also emphasized that the admission scores of previous years have very little value for comparison and reference with candidates. The reason is that all schools must convert the scores of methods and combinations to a common scale.
For example, in 2024, the benchmark score for a major could be 26 points, based on the specific index for a group, while this year it is only 25 points when converted.
Therefore, the Head of the Training Management Department, National Economics University advises candidates to stay calm and prioritize the majors they love when setting wishes.
"You should not worry because your scores are lower than last year and do not dare to choose the major you want to study" - Mr. Duc said.
Sharing more about the admission method based on high school graduation exam scores of the National Economics University this year, Mr. Duc said that the school will consider admission based on 4 combinations (Math, Literature, English); (Math, Physics, English); (Math, Physics, English); (Math, Physics, English). All combinations have Math to ensure relatively fairness for candidates.
Candidates with an international English certificate can convert to a scale of 10 to combine with Math and 1 more subject in the above 4 combinations (not English) for admission.
This year, the National Economics University enrolls a total of 8,500 students, with 73 enrollment codes. Of which, there are 8,200 quotas for the full-time university system and 300 quotas for full-time university inter-level university systems.
The school maintains 3 stable admission methods:
Direct admission (3% of the quota) applies to students in one of the following groups: Policy major, directly admitted according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training; won third prize in the national excellent student competition; first prize in the national science and technology competition or higher.
The admission method based on high school graduation exam scores in 2025 applies to all 2025 admission codes of the National Economics University, using 4 combinations (A00, A01, D01, D07) and there is no difference in admission scores between admission combinations.
The combined admission method is for 3 groups of candidates.
Group 1 is students with an international SAT or ACT certificate.
Group 2 is for candidates with the results of the minimum capacity and thinking assessment test of 85/150 HSA, 700/1200 APT or 60/100 TSA. Students can register for independent admission using this score, or combine it with an international English certificate with IELTS from 5.5, TOEFL iBT 46 or higher.
Group 3 is for candidates with an English certificate, which is considered combined with the graduation exam score in Mathematics and another subject. The conditions for certificates are similar to group 2.
The school will announce the formula for converting scores between methods before July 23.
