In the 2026 enrollment season, the Ministry of Education and Training is expected to have many important adjustments from the high school graduation exam to admission consideration. Therefore, candidates need to closely monitor the new regulations to avoid risks when registering aspirations.
Reduced bonus points for foreign language certificates

Dr. Nguyen Manh Hung - chief expert of the Higher Education Department (Ministry of Education and Training) said that the 2026 university admission regulations are still in the process of collecting opinions and overall assessment, so the official draft has not been announced.
However, it is expected that the priority bonus points for candidates with international foreign language certificates will decrease from 3 points to 1-2 points. Regional priority points are still maintained as stable as last year.
Each school only uses a maximum of 5 admission methods
Regarding admission methods, universities still have the right to autonomously develop projects. However, according to the new orientation, each school is expected to only apply a maximum of 5 admission methods, not counting direct admission methods according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Specifically for teacher training majors, candidates will not be allowed to register overwhelmingly many aspirations, but will only be allowed to register in a certain number of aspirations. The goal of this adjustment is to ensure seriousness, focus in admission and contribute to improving the quality of entrance to the pedagogy major.
In 2026, many universities will strengthen the application of the integrated admission method, combining high school graduation exam scores, competency assessment scores, transcripts, foreign language certificates...
Each school can stipulate different proportions between score components. Whether admission is based on a separate or combined method, candidates with good academic ability still have many chances of being admitted.
Expected maximum of 10 aspirations instead of unlimited
Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training also said that the number of registered aspirations this year may be limited, expected to be a maximum of 10 aspirations instead of being unlimited as in previous years.
Direct admission and priority admission methods will continue to be applied in 2026. However, for high school transcript admission, the Ministry of Education and Training has not yet made an official decision on whether to continue or stop applying.
