On September 9, the Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province sent a report on the situation of staff and payroll to the Ministry of Education and Training, proposing to remove some obstacles.
According to the education sector, the biggest difficulty currently is the shortage of teacher staff. The staff assigned in 2026 decreased by 4,406 people compared to 2025, while the scale of classes and students both increased.
The province has developed a recruitment plan for 4,808 civil servants, receiving more than 7,500 applications.
However, reducing staffing quotas directly affects the ability to deploy recruitment and arrange enough teachers to teach, especially in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, extremely difficult areas and border schools.
The Department of Education and Training of Gia Lai province reviews according to each level of education, subject, and area; implements mobilization, transfer, assignment, inter-school, inter-level teaching and personnel arrangement according to authority.
The education sector prioritizes teachers directly teaching classes, preschool teachers, teachers of Informatics and Foreign Languages; prioritizes arranging teachers in ethnic minority areas, mountainous areas, border areas and 7 inter-level boarding schools.
Currently, the need for funding for teacher contracts, investment, school and classroom repairs, equipment procurement, and implementation of policies to support teachers and learners is very large.
Meanwhile, the province also receives balance supplements from the central budget, and the ability to self-balance to handle urgent tasks fully and promptly is still difficult.
To ensure teaching and learning, especially for students in border areas, the province fully and promptly implements regimes and policies for 7 border boarding general schools.
Boarding students at noon are supported with meal money of 450,000 VND/month and 8 kg of rice/month; boarding students are supported with meal money of 1,17 ,000,000 VND/month and 15 kg of rice/month, the benefit period is no more than 9 months/school year.
