On September 8, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee said that it had directed the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT) to coordinate with units and commune-level People's Committees to review all educational institutions; inspect the implementation of policies to support food, accommodation, tuition fees, rice and other policies for students according to the regulations of the Central Government and localities.
This is to ensure that policies reach the right beneficiaries in a timely manner, without allowing the situation of overpayment, wrong beneficiaries or negative developments to occur.
At the same time, requesting the Department of Education and Training to promptly advise the Provincial People's Committee to report to the Ministry of Education and Training to study and amend and supplement policies if necessary, ensuring they are suitable to the actual conditions of terrain, distance and traffic in the province.
People's Committees of communes and wards must strengthen state management of education, proactively review and grasp the list of students from poor and near-poor households, vulnerable groups, orphans and students in particularly difficult circumstances to have support plans before and during the 2026-2027 school year.
The head of the commune-level government is fully responsible to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee if there is a situation of students lacking food, clothing, books, school supplies or dropping out of school due to difficult family economic circumstances.
Localities must mobilize legal socialized resources, coordinate with the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFF) and local mass organizations to support living and studying conditions for students...
In Gia Lai province, students of inter-level schools in the mainland border region are supported with books, uniforms and necessary supplies for study. The province also received 291 tons of rice to serve boarding and semi-boarding students in the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year.
According to the support policy, boarding students are supported with 450,000 VND for food and 8kg of rice per month. Boarding students are supported with 1,170,000 VND for food and 15kg of rice per month, for a period of no more than 9 months per school year.
Students in Nhon Chau commune - the only island commune of the province - are supported by the province with more than 1.6 million VND per month when going to the mainland to study. This support is aimed at reducing the burden of costs, helping them maintain their studies after leaving the island commune.
In the 2026-2027 school year, Gia Lai has 717 public preschool, general and continuing education institutions, including 701 preschool, general and 16 continuing education institutions. The whole province has 734,454 students, with a total of 40,284 managers, teachers, and staff.
