Proactively develop self-study plans
Circular 29 of the Ministry of Education and Training has been effective for nearly a month, initially implemented simultaneously in localities and is still receiving the attention of society. With the orientation of encouraging self-study ability, many students expressed their agreement but also had many concerns about the challenges.
Nguyen Thi Lan - a student at Dong Hung Ha High School (Thai Binh) said that limiting extra teaching and learning can help students reduce the pressure of taking the exam, instead focusing on self-study ability. However, not everyone can study by themselves effectively.
To adapt to self-study, the female student has developed a specific study plan, re-reading her lesson in class, doing homework and searching for online documents. Lan and some classmates have set up a study group to discuss and solve exercises together, helping to remember more effectively. Lan said that online learning platforms have also become a powerful tool to support her in her self-study process.
Sharing about this issue, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Binh - a teacher at Nghe An Province Boarding High School for Ethnic Minorities said that finding the initial self-study habit can be difficult, tiring and ineffective. But as they gradually get used to it, self-study will become a great source of strength, helping them to firmly face challenges and success in the future. Knowing how to self-study, students not only master knowledge but also practice patience, responsibility and high discipline.
In the current context, teachers can help students in some ways to help them self-study more effectively such as: guiding in making study plans, creating a clear and detailed schedule, and dividing study time into subjects appropriately. This helps them have an overview of their studies and maintain a balance between subjects - Ms. Binh shared.
According to the female teacher, teaching is not only limited to class hours or extra classes. As a knowledgeover, each teacher will always be dedicated to supporting students, ready to answer questions, and accompany them on their learning path in many more flexible ways.
Create a lifelong learning habit
To clarify these issues, Lao Dong Newspaper had an interview with Dr. Thai Van Tai - Director of the Department of Primary Education - Ministry of Education and Training.
Dr. Thai Van Tai said that Circular 29 was developed in the context of implementing innovation in the general education program (GDPT). The 2018 GDPT program has approaches from content teaching, knowledge teaching to approaching the qualities and abilities of students. In addition to promulgating the program, we have innovated textbooks, teaching methods, and assessment methods with the hope that learners will achieve the necessary qualities and abilities.
"The position and role of teachers have changed from the one who transmits to the one who guides. To help students achieve this goal, social forces, families and students themselves need to be responsible in performing their learning tasks. Students must proactively self-study to meet the requirements of the program - Dr. Thai Van Tai commented.
Regarding the issue of inspection and assessment, there are also very fundamental changes, in parallel with the issuance of a new program. Previously, the form of assessment was usually only a sample article, but in the past 5 years, forms such as objective multiple-choice questions, learning projects, presentations, Q&A... have been supplemented, thereby helping students express and demonstrate all their abilities, helping them to be independent, confident, creating a habit of learning and learning for life.
Mr. Tai also emphasized that parents and teachers need to clearly understand the nature and spirit of Circular 29 to implement the policy of not disrupting current school activities. In particular, it is necessary to implement flexibly, flexibly, in accordance with regulations, and authority, increase transparency, increase explainability, and supervision of forces in the process of organizing these activities.
