Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology said that the above income includes many items, including salary for job positions, holiday bonuses, Tet and year-end bonuses...
The salary is adjusted according to seniority and State regulations. For a PhD, it is 18 million VND/month. This level is increased to 28 million and 33 million VND if you are an associate professor and professor.
In addition, students also receive holiday, Tet and year-end bonuses, an average of about 20% of their basic salary.
The average income of a PhD ranges from 35 - 45 million VND/month. As for lecturers who are professors and associate professors, the income is 85 million VND/month
For international lecturers alone, the salary for job positions is 3 times higher than the corresponding salary of Vietnamese lecturers.
In addition, teachers also enjoy support policies: 2 round-trip air tickets/year; food and accommodation support for the first 3 months; support for paperwork and documents when working at school.
In addition to the salary and bonus policy, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology also developed a Scientific Research Support Program.
"Previously, it was almost very difficult for young lecturers to return to school to start performing scientific tasks due to a lack of infrastructure, facilities, laboratories, human resources, etc.
We recognized that weakness, so we have built programs to support young research groups since they first entered school. As long as there are ideas and capacity, the school will support research space, research infrastructure and support an initial funding for research ideas" - Prof. Dr. Mai Thanh Phong - Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Science and Technology informed.
The school aims to invite 4-6 international lecturers to teach each major, thereby helping to improve training quality and localization.
As of 2025, there have been more than 140 international lecturers collaborating at the school, with more than 60 invited lectures each year in online and in-person forms.
Notably, the school is developing a policy to confer the title of honorary professor and honorary doctorate to scientists and lecturers with outstanding achievements in scientific research and education, especially those who are Vietnamese or foreigners who have made great contributions to the cause of education and science in Vietnam.
This policy not only honors individuals with high achievements but also helps promote diplomacy and international cooperation, enhancing the prestige of the school.
