New direction on completing school merger before August 30, 2026
According to information from the Ministry of Education and Training on July 21, the Prime Minister has just issued a document sent to the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET); Ministry of Home Affairs; Standing Committees of Provincial and City Party Committees; People's Committees (PCs) of provinces and cities on the arrangement of public preschool, general, continuing education, and vocational education institutions at provincial and commune levels.
The document clearly states that, following Official Dispatch No. 777/TTg-TCCV dated July 10, 2026 of the Prime Minister on arranging public preschool, general, continuing education, and vocational education institutions at provincial and commune levels, based on the proposal of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Education and Training in document No. 157-BC/DU dated July 18, 2026, the Prime Minister has directed:
Localities focus on reviewing and implementing the arrangement of public preschool, general, continuing, and vocational education institutions in the area in the direction of: Each commune-level administrative unit must ensure at least 1 preschool education institution, 1 general education institution providing sufficient primary and secondary school levels, ensuring flexibility, according to a roadmap, suitable to the actual situation of the locality to achieve the goal of reducing at least 30% of focal points, in favorable locations reducing about 50% of focal points compared to July 1, 2025, completing before August 30, 2026. Ho Chi Minh City parents are under more pressure because of taking their children to school far from home
Immediately after localities in Ho Chi Minh City announced the results of enrollment at the beginning of the 2026-2027 school year, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thao (Binh Tan ward) continuously logged into the enrollment system with the hope that her child's zoning results would be adjusted.
Her child is in 6th grade this year but is assigned to Huynh Van Nghe Secondary School, about 8-9km from home, while near the residence there are still Ho Van Long Secondary School and Tan Tao Secondary School.
I just hope my child can study near home for convenient pick-up and drop-off. The deadline for enrollment confirmation is approaching but I still don't know if it will be adjusted or not" - Ms. Thao shared.

Strengthen construction forces for boarding schools in border areas to be on time for the new school year
On July 21, the Construction Investment Project Management Board No. 3 of Lam Dong province said that the Quang Truc Inter-level Boarding Primary and Secondary School project has completed about 64% of the volume.

According to the plan, the project will complete construction, equipment installation and acceptance before August 30 to put it into use in the new school year.
