The Ministry of Education and Training responds to errors and incidents in university admissions in 2025

In the 2025 university and college admission season, more than 852,000 candidates registered to take the exam with 7.6 million wishes, the total number of actual admission wishes in the system will reach more than 50 million, double in 2024. To meet the huge amount of data, the Ministry of Education and Training has upgraded the general admission support system, increased the number of virtual filtering times and extended processing time, ensuring that schools announce the standard scores on time on August 22.
In the period from August 22-24, schools will announce the admission results to candidates and download data to the system. From the morning of August 25, candidates began to confirm their admission, and by noon on August 26, more than 560,000 candidates had successfully enrolled, exceeding the number in 2024. Some minor errors still occurred due to input data errors or school operations, but the number of errors has decreased compared to last year.
The Ministry of Education and Training and schools have opened a hotline to quickly handle feedback to ensure the rights of candidates. The Ministry affirmed that all eligible candidates will be notified promptly and committed to continue listening to and adjusting regulations and enrollment plans for the following years to minimize errors and improve the effectiveness of the system. Ho Chi Minh City Banking University speaks out about changing admission conditions
Ho Chi Minh City Banking University said it has received feedback from candidates and parents about having higher exam scores than the announced benchmark but has not yet been notified of admission. The school affirmed that the admission principles have been clearly announced in the Admissions Plan and announced on July 23, 2025.
According to regulations, for the fields of Law, Economic Law and Economic Law (partial English), the total admission score must be at least 18 points, and the Math and Literature subjects in the admission combination must be at least 6 points. The school commits that all candidates who meet the conditions will be considered for admission and enrolled in accordance with regulations.
Previously, many candidates reported that the school had changed admission conditions, from only requiring one of the two subjects of Math or Literature to achieve 6 points or more, to requiring both subjects to achieve a minimum of 6 points. This has caused some candidates, even with a total score higher than the benchmark, to still not be eligible for admission. See more...
Explaining the heat of the 2025 Pedagogical benchmark score
Teachers propose postponing admission to re-evaluate the university's point conversion formula
In the past few days, on forums, many parents, students and teachers have been interested in the benchmark scores of universities.
Master Nguyen Quang Thi - Bao Loc High School, Lam Dong raised two major issues in university admissions in 2025. Firstly, this year's graduation exam scores are low due to difficult questions, but the admission scores are high because schools add incentives and convert scores inconsistently, leading to a situation of "low exam scores but high admission scores". This causes unfair enrollment, not reflecting candidates' abilities properly, causing difficulties for students to be admitted based on their graduation exam scores.
Second, the injustice between admission methods. Considering transcripts is affected by differences in assessment between teachers, schools and regions, which can easily lead to a situation where transcript scores are sky-high. Admitting English certificates (mainly IELTS) creates an advantage for city students, causing disadvantages for rural students, while the cost of studying and taking the certificate exam is too high. Admission by private exams also increases pressure and disadvantages for students who are not qualified, because they have to review both the graduation exam and the private exam, but the quota is low.
