With 451/460 delegates in favor (accounting for 94.35%), the National Assembly has officially passed the Law on Teachers - the first law to comprehensively regulate the teaching profession from kindergarten to university. Many new breakthrough points, especially in protecting the honor and improving the treatment of teachers, the law will take effect from January 1, 2026.
One of the outstanding contents is the first establishment of a legal position for teachers, protecting the honor and dignity of teachers.

Regarding policies and regulations, teachers' salaries will be ranked highest in the administrative and career salary system. Teachers working in disadvantaged areas, specialized schools, and public kindergartens will receive vocational allowances, preferential allowances, and other support.
The law does not prohibit teachers from teaching extra classes, but requires that students are not forced. Educational institutions are given the initiative in recruiting and arranging personnel, aiming to improve the quality of the team and reduce barriers to administrative procedures. This is considered an important step forward to improve the position and attract human resources for the education sector.
With the passing of the Law on Teachers with many regimes and policies on treatment, the general mood of teachers is excited. Especially those who are boat drivers who spend their youth working in mountainous areas.
After more than 30 years of working from Ninh Binh to the Yen Minh highlands (Ha Giang), Ms. Bui Thi Tam believes that the passed of the Law on Teachers with many benefits is a recognition of the profession.
"The highest salary level in the administrative salary system will help teachers improve their lives. Appropriate treatment regimes are a motivation for people to stick with the teaching profession.
The notable new point is that the protection of the honor and dignity of teachers is more practical. In the highlands, the people are educated, and the economic and social conditions are still disadvantaged," said Ms. Tam.

According to Ms. Tam, the biggest concern at the moment is the retirement age. In the highlands, the retirement age should be lowered. Many teachers are old but traveling on mountain passes and slippery slopes is very difficult.
From a management perspective, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Thuy - Principal of Lung Luong Primary School (Vo Nhai, Thai Nguyen) commented that the recently passed Law on Teachers will have a great impact on recruitment.
"Currently, the input quality is quite high. When the treatment regimes and salaries of teachers are stable, it will attract talents to contribute to the profession.
After the law was passed, the teachers were all happy and excited. Teachers in mountainous areas and villages will improve their lives, thereby working with peace of mind. Education work is given top priority, which will be the motivation for teachers to contribute to their profession. This is a great recognition," said Ms. Thuy.
