Ho Chi Minh City - Principals of schools in Ho Chi Minh City are proactive in arranging the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday schedule for students according to the school year plan.

The Department of Education and Training (GDDT) of Ho Chi Minh City has just sent a document to the principals of schools on guiding the implementation of the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday schedule of the Ho Chi Minh City education sector.

According to the Department, based on the official dispatch of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, city students will be off from February 12, 2026 (ie, December 25 of the lunar calendar) to the end of February 22, 2026 (January 6 of the lunar calendar).

However, based on the 2025-2026 school year time plan, heads of educational institutions proactively develop unit education plans and can be flexible, creating conditions to adjust the Lunar New Year holiday of Binh Ngo 2026 for students but not exceeding 2 weeks (2 weeks in the Tet holiday schedule as above, including Saturday and Sunday).

The adjustment must ensure the principle of implementing 35 weeks of actual teaching, testing, and evaluation according to regulations; ensuring progress, sufficient time, quality of education and in accordance with the city's general plan framework.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee had an official letter approving the proposal of the Department of Education and Training on the 2026 Binh Ngo Lunar New Year holiday schedule for preschool education, general education and continuing education in Ho Chi Minh City.

In which, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assigned the Department of Education and Training to have specific guidance documents for educational institutions.
