On the evening of October 6, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Minh Thuy - Principal of Ba Don Primary School No. 1 (Ba Don Ward, Quang Tri Province) said that the image that is spreading is truly the school's boarding meal at noon on the same day.
The scene had nearly 600 students providing boarding meals, provided by a business under a signed contract.
According to Ms. Thuy, after the information appeared on social networks, the school worked with the catering unit. The company said that due to negligence in preparation, and not using pork during the time of the African swine fever epidemic and scarce food sources after the storm, the meal on October 6 did not meet standards.
According to Ms. Thuy, there is a stir-fried squash with garlic in today's serving, but because of the slow transportation, it was replaced with peanut salt.
The school is completing a report to the People's Committee of Ba Don Ward and the Department of Education and Training of Quang Tri Province to clarify the incident.
As reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, social networks have seen a picture of a rice tray with 3 pieces of sausage, 1 boiled egg, a dish of sesame salt and vegetable soup, which is said to be a meal worth 25,000 VND at the school.
The image quickly attracted many comments saying that such a portion was too small compared to the price, making it difficult to ensure nutrition for boarding students.
On the same afternoon, the People's Committee of Ba Don Ward confirmed that it had grasped the information and worked directly with the school, requesting specific reports and reviewing the entire meal supply process to ensure quality and food safety for students.
