Accelerating early exam preparation
The 2026 high school graduation exam was scheduled to take place in June 2026, but from now on, many candidates have set a bar and started racing against time. Explaining this initiative, Nguyen Tran Hai Yen - a student at Ha Trung High School (Thanh Hoa) - said: "Through monitoring previous admission seasons, I realized that I prepare as soon as possible to avoid falling into a passive state".
Currently, the female student is aiming to apply to the National Economics University. Hai Yen has carefully consulted the school's admission methods in previous years, from considering high school graduation exam scores, SAT/I IELTS certificates to competency assessment exams, thinking assessment.
To ensure the best results, Yen spends at least 4-5 hours of self-study outside of class each day. I divided the stages into stages: Consolidating knowledge, practicing, adding foreign language skills and necessary soft skills. Yen also regularly updates information from teachers and school enrollment websites to adjust her study plans accordingly.
Set a bond for the 2026 high school graduation exam, Nguyen Thi Yen Nhi - a student at Han Thuyen High School (Bac Ninh) said that she clearly felt the great pressure of university admission in recent years has been constantly fluctuating, from changing admission quotas and methods to standard scores.
"During school days in class, I spend time studying in the evening and reviewing the parts I have left gaps. I also started reviewing Chinese and aiming to take the HSK certificate exam in the next few months to increase my admission opportunities. At the same time, he plans to register for the competency assessment exam. In my opinion, the more there are backup options, the more opportunities to enter the desired major are opened up" - Yen Nhi shared.
Accompanying students
Talking to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Ms. Tran Thi Tho - a teacher at Hoang Mai High School (Ha Noi) - said that the review work for grade 12 students has been implemented very early. 12th grade students are supported with free extra classes, one session per subject/week; Literature will have two sessions/week.
"Currently, the subject groups have completed a detailed review plan to ensure progress and quality" - Ms. Tho said.
Regarding the review roadmap, Ms. Tho shared: After completing the mid-term and final exam of the two semesters, students will participate in at least 4 concentrated exams per year. In addition, the school also organizes at least 2 surveys (in the first semester and in April), if possible, an additional survey will be added in May. In addition, students also have a survey organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training. Thus, students will have at least three important survey tests, not to mention regular tests in class.
In response to students' concerns about fluctuations in university admissions, Ms. Tho said that the current situation is relatively stable. Universities proactively announce early admission plans, including converting IELTS scores, competency assessment test scores and accompanying priorities. In reality, there is only a trend of reducing the admission quota for high school transcripts, while the exam subjects or admission blocks have remained almost unchanged.
Advising candidates, Ms. Tho said that the most important thing is that they need to clearly define their goals with two compulsory subjects and two elective subjects, then persistently pursue, spend more time on key subjects, and absolutely avoid being hasty. Review patiently, hard and follow the roadmap instructed by your teachers.
In addition, students need to develop a weekly and monthly plan, determine specific tasks and strictly follow discipline. Without a clear learning method and scientific timeline, it will be difficult to achieve results.
