On the afternoon of November 22, speaking with Lao Dong, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Van Duy - Deputy Head of Tuy Phuoc Dong Commune Police (Gia Lai Province) - said that the unit had reported to the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and local authorities, proposing to reward Mr. Nguyen Tan Diep - Deputy Head of the Security and Order Team of Duong Thien village - for his outstanding achievements in the rescue work of the recent flood.

Previously, at around 11:00 a.m. on November 20, Mr. Dang Thanh Trong (30 years old, residing in Hamlet 15, Duong Thien village) and 3 people rowed a boat from Xuan Phuong village to return home.

While moving, the big waves hit the help boat, causing all 4 people to fall into the water. One person wore a life jacket and the other two knew how to swim so they could get to shore in time, while Mr. Trong did not know how to swim so he went with it and gradually sank into the floodwaters.

Discovering the incident, Mr. Nguyen Tan Diep immediately mobilized people to roam a help boat to rescue him, took Mr. Trong to shore, and directly provided first aid to help the victim overcome the critical condition. By 4:00 p.m. the same day, after receiving care at the medical facility, Mr. Trong was conscious, his health was stable and Mr. Diep supported him to take him home safely.

"The floodwaters were cut off for many days and there was no power, so the unit only received information about the incident. Realizing that this was a commendable act, the unit proposed to reward comrade Diep," said Lieutenant Colonel Duy.
