National Highways 1A and 29 in Dak Lak have been opened to traffic but essential goods are still locally scarce

Dak Lak - National Highways 1A and 29 have been opened to traffic to serve the transportation needs of the people. However, some essential goods are still locally scarce.

On November 22, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huy Thanh - Head of the Traffic Police Department of Dak Lak Provincial Police - confirmed that National Highway 1A has been temporarily opened to traffic after many days of being cut off by floods.

National Highway 29 has also been reopened in the past two days, creating conditions for safe traffic.

According to Lieutenant Colonel Thanh, the Traffic Police force is mobilized to be on duty at vulnerable points to regulate and ensure smooth traffic. When the water receded, National Highway 29 was more favorable, and the number of vehicles circulating was stable.

However, it was noted that at many grocery stores in the center of Song Hinh commune (towards Tuy Hoa ward, Dak Lak province), there was a local shortage of bottled drinking water.

The owner of a store said that in recent days, people from many areas of the province have bought a large amount of bottled water to support areas that are still deeply flooded, causing local supply to not be able to meet demand.

"We have not hoarded goods, but the distributor has not delivered on time because the roads have been cut off for several days," said the shop owner.

At Bach Hoa Xanh supermarket in the center of Song Hinh commune, bottled drinking water still has goods but the quantity is limited.

According to the supermarket staff, all the green vegetables, meat and fish have been sold out; drinking water is also scarce because vehicles transported from warehouses cannot pass through National Highway 1A at the time of the congestion.

In reality, the above-mentioned points of sale did not increase prices abnormally, despite the temporary shortage of goods.

The Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee said that the damage caused by floods and landslides has reached more than VND4,500 billion. Faced with the particularly serious situation, the province requires localities and departments and branches to focus on supplying goods and necessities to affected areas.

The goal of the Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee is to provide emergency support on food, foodstuffs, drinking water, medicine and essential necessities to all households affected by floods or isolated.

The province is committed to maintaining a minimum standard of living for people during emergency times, ensuring that no household lacks food, drinking water, or cannot access relief.

The province has organized rescue forces to approach isolated areas and not let anyone in the isolated areas lack minimum needs. The general and long-term goal of Dak Lak province is to gradually restore life and improve environmental sanitation after natural disasters, while restoring production.

The province will prioritize supporting the supply of materials for house repair for households with damaged or unroofed roofs, paying special attention to policy households, poor households, and single households.

Mr. Nguyen Thien Van, Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee, said that the province is implementing measures to overcome the consequences of floods. To carry out this work, the province has mobilized forces from the police, military and militia sectors, closely coordinating to support affected areas.

"In particular, the Provincial People's Committee has requested units to quickly access flooded areas, be ready to provide food and drinking water, and ensure that people do not fall into hunger and cold" - Vice Chairman of Dak Lak Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thien Van shared more.
