Ho Chi Minh City National University's competency assessment exam
This year, Ho Chi Minh City National University (VNU-HCM) organized 2 rounds of capacity assessment exams (GNL), round 1 on March 30 and round 2 on June 1.
The exam results are expected to be used by 100 universities and colleges to consider partial admission quotas.
The exam still consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, but has been adjusted compared to last year. In which, the Logic - Data Analysis and problem Solving section is restructured into the Scientific Thinking section, with 30 multiple-choice questions.
The Language Use (Vietnamese and English) and Mathematics sections have increased the number of questions to 60 and 30 questions, respectively.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's (H-SCA) specialized competency assessment test
The 2025 Ho Chi Minh City University of Education's specialized competency assessment exam includes 6 subjects: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Literature and English.
The knowledge content used to assess candidates' abilities is mentioned in the exams that will closely follow the 2018 general education program, in which the knowledge content of the 12th grade program accounts for 70-80%, the rest is the knowledge content of the 10th and 11th grade programs.

Computer-based university entrance exam (V-SAT)
In 2025, 4 universities in Ho Chi Minh City will organize the V-SAT exam, including: Ho Chi Minh City Banking University, Saigon University, Ho Chi Minh City Open University and University of Finance - Marketing. The exam results are organized by schools and some other schools for admission.
Accordingly, the University of Finance - Marketing (UFM) will organize 5 exams in April and May 2025.
The exam includes 8 independent subjects: Math, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, English and Literature (c candidates can choose one or more subjects depending on their needs and abilities). The exam content is included in the current general education program at high school level.
The time for taking the exam for Math and Literature is 90 minutes/subject; for Physics, Chemistry, Biology, History, Geography, English each subject is 60 minutes.
Saigon University organizes 4 rounds of exams. Round 1 took place on April 6, round 2 on April 13, round 3 on May 10 and round 4 on May 11.
Ho Chi Minh City Banking University organizes 6 exams. Round 1 took place on March 23, round 2 on April 20, round 3 on May 18, round 4 on June 1, round 5 on June 29 and round 6 on July 27.
Ho Chi Minh City Open University organizes 4 exams: Round 1 takes place on April 12-13, round 2 on April 26-27, round 3 on May 17-18, round 4 on June 7-8.
