On August 26, the Hanoi People's Committee issued Decision No. 4400/QD-UBND on promulgating the 2025-2026 school year time plan framework for preschool education, general education and continuing education in Hanoi.
Accordingly, the new school year will be opened simultaneously on Friday (September 5, 2025).
grades 1, 9 and 12 will be dismissed 2 weeks earlier than the opening date; the remaining grades will be dismissed 1 week earlier.
End of semester I before January 18, 2026; end of school year before May 31, 2026. Considering the completion of the primary and secondary school graduation programs: before June 30, 2026. Admissions for first-class students must be completed before July 31, 2026. The high school graduation exam is scheduled for June 11 and 12, 2026. Other national exams according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
The 2025-2026 school year is divided into two semesters: semester I ends before January 18, 2026. semester II starts from January 19, 2026 and ends before May 31, 2026.
Holidays and Tet holidays are implemented according to current regulations. Teachers are given a summer vacation or flexible leave in accordance with the school year plan.
The Hanoi People's Committee assigned the Hanoi Department of Education and Training to direct the implementation of the plan, and proactively propose adjustments in case of natural disasters, epidemics or special situations.
