In early November, we (PV) were present at Son Ha Primary School, Huu Lung Commune, Lang Son Province, where people were still struggling with the landslide.
The weather was gloomy, with prolonged light rain, causing the cold front winds to creep into each layer of the shirts of the little girls and students.
Just over a month ago, this land, along with many areas of Huu Lung district, was submerged in a fierce flood.
When the floodwaters receded, a thick layer of mud was left on each page of the book and the textbook. The schools that are already solid now have only temporarily recovered from the ruins and devastation.
In particular, the road connecting National Highway 1A to Son Ha Primary School was completely "d contested" after the flood.

The only road about 20m long and 6.5m wide leading to the school with more than 400 students. Now, the road has been seriously damaged, leaving only a small path of less than 50cm.
In the distance, children in white uniforms, red scarves, holding books, slowly walked on the narrow road, nestled near the wall.
The road surface is slippery after the drizzle in early winter, causing children to worry, just waiting for a fall.
In the National Highway 1A area, during rush hour, parents stop to park their vehicles along the road, occupying the entire lane for motorbikes, causing traffic congestion.
Some parents said that because the road was too narrow, they had to park their children up front and wait for their children to walk up before picking them up.

Looking down at the broken concrete pieces, the rocks and soil are scattered, creating dangerous obstacles, Mr. Bui Van Nghiep - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Truong Son area, where Son Ha Primary School is located, could not hide his sadness.
"After the flood, when the road leading to the school was damaged, to get to school safely, teachers and students had to go around a shortcut, about 500m from the main road. However, this road is narrow, slippery and poses many potential safety risks, especially on rainy days," Mr. Nghiep shared.
According to Mr. Nghiep, since the road was eroded, the commune government has stretched ropes to warn of dangerous areas and advised people to limit travel.
However, because the replacement road is too long and inconvenient to travel, most parents still choose a landslide road because it is closer and more convenient.
"The damaged road also disrupted the lives of 33 households with 120 people," Mr. Nghiep added.
Faced with this difficult situation, the Huu Lung commune government has urgently implemented remedial measures.

Mr. Cao Van Hoa, Chairman of Huu Lung Commune People's Committee, said: "We have coordinated with relevant units to survey and isolate the landslide area. Temporary measures are to reinforce foundations and treat weak soil. The contractor will continue to construct the concrete embankment and restore the road surface in the remaining months of 2025."
The commune government has also proposed adding funds to speed up the progress of incident handling.
According to the plan, in the coming time, the road will be re-constructed with more durability, ensuring safety for traffic.
Mr. Do Trung Thanh - Vice Principal of Son Ha Primary School shared: "The landslide on the road to Son Ha Primary School is still a big concern for parents, teachers and students."
The representative of the Board of Directors said that restoring the road is not only an urgent requirement to ensure traffic safety, but also the desire of hundreds of families in Huu Lung commune, helping students to go to school more safely and conveniently.
