Focus on responding to storm No. 13
On the morning of November 5, in Hanoi, Central Party Committee member, Deputy Prime Minister, Deputy Head of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee Tran Hong Ha chaired a quick meeting on the implementation of response to storm No. 13 - a storm forecast to be very strong and move quickly.
At the Hue City bridge, Vice Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Hoang Hai Minh City Civil Defense Command chaired.
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh informed: Currently, the rainfall in Hue City has decreased, the reservoirs are regulated appropriately to welcome the upcoming heavy rain.
The whole city has 18/32 communes and wards that are still partially flooded, however, basic traffic is smooth, electricity has been restored, and students in the highlands have returned to school. The city is maintaining a 24/7 on-duty force, proactively providing relief and support to people in deeply flooded areas, while preparing adequate supplies and necessities for reserve.

After listening to reports on flood situation and storm response work from a number of localities and relevant ministries and branches, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha emphasized: Storm No. 13 has developed very unusually, localities have just suffered heavy damage due to previous floods, many places have not yet overcome landslides and flooding.

Following the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, immediately after the meeting, Mr. Hoang Hai Minh - Vice Chairman of Hue City People's Committee directed units and localities to proactively deploy response scenarios to storm No. 13. Maintain a continuous on-duty and warning regime, especially warning of strong winds in the highlands. Requesting network operators to ensure smooth communication, considering this a "backbone" factor in management direction.
The Department of Construction inspects and reinforces the infrastructure system, anten posts, and broadcasting towers, ensuring safe traffic and electricity and water. The Military Command and the City Police continue to support food and necessities for households that are still deeply flooded, coordinate to ensure security, order, and traffic safety during the rainy and stormy season.
Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Hai Minh also requested that Hue City's media agencies update comprehensive, accurate and timely information to avoid causing public confusion. At the same time, strengthen propaganda to raise people's awareness of maintaining environmental hygiene, not throwing garbage onto the road during floods, coordinate with functional forces to clear sewers, ensure drainage.
With the spirit of "no subjectivity, no surprise pasted", Hue City is urgently completing the response plan to storm No. 13, determined to ensure the safety of people's lives and property, minimizing damage when the storm makes landfall.
Total effort to clean up and sanitize the city
In addition to urgently responding to storm No. 13, many localities in the city are making efforts to clean up the consequences of historic floods and soon bring life back to normal.
After three consecutive floods, the amount of garbage in Hue City increased by more than 2.5 times, hundreds of officers, soldiers and union members, along with Hue Urban Environment & Construction Joint Stock Company (HEPCO) joined forces to clean up streets and schools.

On the morning of November 5, at the central axes of Le Loi, Dong Da, Nguyen Hue, Le Quy Don..., the Hue City Youth Union mobilized nearly 550 union members and young people from the locality and universities to collect garbage, dredge mud, and clear sewers.
At the same time, Hue City Police forces spread to the grassroots to support people in cleaning schools, health stations, public areas and muddy roads after the flood to bring normal life.
The 6th Infantry Regiment dispatched nearly 170 officers and soldiers with water pumps and sprayers to divide into 4 teams to support schools and localities.

On the urban sanitation front, HEPCO said that the unit has mobilized all its efforts to clean up " sincem" and collect garbage at centers, schools, markets, agencies, and tourist routes; at the same time, organize garbage collection on the river to prevent stagnation.
According to Mr. Tran Huu An - Deputy General Director of HEPCO, the urban sanitation force is making efforts to clean up after the flood, hoping that people will support and be aware of tying up and gathering garbage in the right place so that specialized vehicles can access it safely and quickly.
