When the elderly learn technology, AI and Chat GPT
Although he is almost 90 years old, the habit of reading books and updating cultural knowledge is still maintained by the old teacher every day.
Holding a book about GPT Chat content, Mr. Nien shared that after retiring, instead of resting, he participated in digital skills learning groups, learning to use smartphones, social networks and recently researched knowledge about artificial intelligence (AI), learned how to use GPT Chat to write letters, poems or look up information, and plan for himself.
According to Mr. Nien, the appearance of tools like ChatGPT is bringing a new door, making unlimited learning, being able to learn anytime, anywhere. Without going to traditional classes, the elderly can ask for everything they want, from how to take care of ornamental plants, explain natural phenomena, to writing a poem for their partner.
This is not only a way to learn but also a form of interaction to help the elderly maintain memory, critical thinking and feel useful and are still developing every day.
From the career of teaching and imparting knowledge as a cultural cadre, Mr. Nien met and became a daughter of Mr. Pham Thi Bich Doi. Thanks to Mr. Nien's guidance and companionship, their learning path became an enduring journey that lasted more than half a century.
Mrs. Doi recalled the early days of knowing her husband. At that time, he was one of the students that Mr. Nien directly guided and closely followed throughout his learning and training process.
Every day, he teach me to study, review the notebooks and correct the places that are not correct. Until now, that habit is still intact. He learned new knowledge, then explained it to me. Both of us studied together, never seeing it as enough, we already knew everything" - Mr. Doi shared.
Learning for life to live fully every day

Although he has reached the age of 86, writer and journalist Dang Huynh Thai is still diligently composing, working and contributing constantly. For him, age is not a limit, but a motivation to continue writing, telling historical stories and passing on experiences to the next generation.
The novel Northeast Coal Basin is considered by experts as the anniversary of coal workers in the Northeast region, the result of the passion and serious work of a veteran writer. The work is not only a crystallization of intelligence and emotions, but also a deep gratitude that he gave to his homeland and nation.
Sharing about his writing journey, Mr. Thai said: "From my experiences living through the two periods of resistance against France and the US, I want to rewrite so that my children and grandchildren can understand the glorious time of the nation".
Not stopping at literature, he also wrote film scripts, painted, and produced content on the YouTube platform - something that not every elderly person is capable of accessing and mastering.
In particular, he is researching the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in content creation and production. At a small house on Hoang Dao Thuy Street (Cau Giay, Hanoi), he and his partner, Mrs. Cao Thi Hy, created a "family film studio".
There, he wrote scripts, filmed, staged scenes, arranged music and techniques, and his wife would read the lyrics for the works. People are still joking that I have a film studio, where there are only two people, Mr. Thai said with a smile.
Mr. Thai's spirit of lifelong learning is not just words but concrete actions. Because before that, at the age of 75, he still "stolen books to study" art for 2 years to perfect his painting skills.
Ms. Cao Thi Hy, wife of writer and journalist Dang Huynh Thai, shared: Mr. Thai is a person who is passionate about studying and working tirelessly. He is the motivation for family members to follow.
That spirit has helped him continuously create valuable literary and artistic products. The novel Dat and Blood has been published in English by Ukiyoto Publishing House (Canada) and released globally, a rare event in Vietnamese literature.
